I need a basic concept design for a small-scale kiln for torrefaction (slow pyrolisis) of biomass.
The basic concept design must include an idea for making the torrefaction inside oxygen-free. The option of Nitrogen flushing is EXCLUDED. I need some solution that achieves oxygen-free environment in a more simple and cheaper way than flushing the biomass with Nitrogen.
The sketch you make can be hand-made or CAD drawing - does not matter. The important is that your sketch and description respects the above-mentioned requirement and is clearly understandable, explained in a few sentences in proper English.

Clarification: The design you suggest doesn't need to be of continuous type. I accept solution where the biomass is torrefied in batches, instead of continuous opration. (So, I don't need to feed in the biomass continuously and remove the torrefied biomass continuously). The most appreciated solution will be the one that removes the oxygen in the most creative- and in the same time the cheapest way.

No. The biomass will be added minced into pieces min 0.3-0.5 cm pieces.
