I've been writing code professionally since 2016, working on everything from startup MVPs to enterprise systems handling millions of users. The projects that taught me the most were usually the ones where something broke in production at 2 AM—turns out that's when you really learn how systems work. My work covers both...I've been writing code professionally since 2016, working on everything from startup MVPs to enterprise systems handling millions of users. The projects that taught me the most were usually the ones where something broke in production at 2 AM—turns out that's when you really learn how systems work. My work covers both frontend and backend because early in my career I got tired of waiting on other teams to build APIs. Started learning Node.js so I could control the whole stack, then added React when it became clear that was the direction web development was heading. Now I can take a feature from database design through to user interface without dependencies on other people's schedules. Frontend development means building interfaces that don't frustrate users. I work primarily with React and TypeScript, implement responsive designs that actually work on phones instead of just stacking everything vertically, optimize JavaScript bundles because nobody waits for 5MB to download, and handle edge cases that always show up in production. I've debugged enough browser inconsistencies to know which CSS properties cause problems and when to just use a different approach. Backend work is about designing systems that don't fall apart under load. I build REST APIs with Node.js or Python, structure databases so queries stay fast when you hit a million records, implement caching strategies that actually help instead of causing stale data problems, and write code that other developers can understand six months later. I've worked with PostgreSQL mostly, some MongoDB when document storage made sense, and Redis for caching and sessions. I handle deployment and infrastructure competently—not a DevOps expert, but I can containerize applications with Docker, set up CI/CD pipelines so code doesn't sit waiting for manual deploys, configure AWS services like EC2 and RDS, and implement monitoring so we know about problems before customers start complaining. I've migrated databases, scaled applications, and fixed performance issues that were killing servers. Currently available for contract work or full-time positions where the goal is solving real problems, not just adding features to hit arbitrary deadlines. I communicate clearly, provide realistic timelines, and flag issues early instead of pretending everything is fine until it's too late to fix properly. weniger
