I am part of a local community group campaigning to have the ugly sandbags on Watermans Bay replaced with a couple of limestone grassed terraces with landscaping at each end. (By way of background the sandbags were placed on the beach by our local Council nearly 15 years ago following a storm to protect the infrastructure from further erosion.) Our two objectives are as follows: 1. To remove the existing deteriorating sandbags along Watermans Bay and replace this with grass terracing so as to add a greater usable amenity for the community; and 2. There is some local sensitivity from a group who wish to revegetate the foreshore - which is why I have indicated this to remain in the northern and southern areas of the proposed terracing (it's all about compromise!).
