I have a high-resolution STL scan of a small cast part that I need cleaned up and converted into a rock-solid STEP file for CNC work. The mesh shows typical surface imperfections from scanning, so the first task is to smooth and repair those flawed areas without losing any of the fine detail—the finished model must look production-ready, not just functional. Once the surface is pristine, I need the geometry rebuilt or reverse-engineered into a watertight, dimensionally accurate STEP file that opens flawlessly in my CAM package and is suitable for creating a mold. SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, Geomagic—use whatever toolchain you’re most comfortable with, as long as the end result passes import checks and keeps every subtle contour of the original casting.
