Small company seek programmer to develop a project based on Arduino/Atmel platform.

Other embedded micros be considered , Arduino/Atmel enviroment is what we`re used to currently.

Project involves DMX 512 transmission, experience and/or interest in this protocol would be an advantage.

DMX 512 is a theatre lighting control standard finalised in 1990, it was originally developed so that it could use devices that were TTL only ,when MCU`s were still expensive, physically it is based on RS485.

It is a 250Kbps serial protocol with no error detection , its not hugely intensive on processor use but accurate timing is essential.

From experience the Tinkerit DMX Arduino library does not always provide accurate enough timing.

Project to use a MSGEQ7 audio analyser input to a arduino/atmel microcontroller.

The MSGEQ7 is a spectrum analyser NOT an equaliser.

It provides an analogue level appropriate to a sample of a frequency band.

The MCU should take each analogue level and generate an appropriate output level on its allocated DMX channel.

Output from microcontroller encoded to 3 to 7 channels of DMX 512 level dependent on input from MSGEQ7.

A sound to light, colour organ, unit with DMX 512 output in effect.

DMX start address set by DIP switch

Response styles, fast or slow attack also set by switch or rotary control.

Will provide following hardware to the succesful bidder:

appropriate Arduino or other development board.

MSGEQ7 device in DIP form.

Sufficient DMX LED driver/decoders and LEDs for prototype testing.

Will require bidder to have basic hardware experience to assemble proto.

Further projects may follow.
