Batch Filename Changer

I need a simple application that I can run (win xp), which will change the file names in an incremental value. This is not complicated to do, I would do it myself if I had time but do not. please read these instructions thoroughly. 1) Use of wildcard (*) character is a MUST I have a very large amount of files in a consistant folder structure. For example folder1/subfolder1/sisterfolder1/50 FILES HERE folder1/subfolder2/sisterfolder1/20 FILES HERE folder2/subfolder1/sisterfolder1/70 FILES HERE ETC.... What I need to be able to do is specify the path using wildcards. example C:/Applications/Project1/*/*/* the third asterisk is the folder the files are located. If there are 10 files, they need to be renamed as ... [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] etc. This program must go through every available folder. It must not change the extension of the file. Only the name. If it is a txt file, it must remain as a txt file, just renamed accourdingly. I don't care what order they are renamed as. You could sort the files by name and rename that way. I cannot stress this enough. If i choose to rename the files in --- c:/Project1/*/*/* It must ONLY rename files that is under the 3rd asterisk. Not the 1st or 2nd. The last asterisk is where the files are. I do have other files inside the parent folders that I donot want changed! Also, the amount of subfolders may change. So the filepath must be something I can edit before I run the program. It should ask me the file path prior to execution. Some may be C:/Project1/*/* others may be C:/Project1/*/*/*/*/* If you donot understand, please send me a pm for claification.
