I am at the university teaching concurrent and real-time programming to my students in C, so I have vast experience with IPC, threads, shared memory, processes, monitors, etc. all related to the C programming language.

Depending on the system you would like this to run on and the complexity of the equations, i would most likely use MPI and LWP to get the number of cores/threads and designate tasks on each of them. Using this method, I could either run the designator fist and allocate all available cores to the task, or run the designator along side the system of equations as a thread in itself, possible speeding up the process (depending on the system/CPU).
