Hello, I am reading the project description and would like to propose to use the Entity Framework (ORM) instead of the ODBC driver because this will help to make a data access layer common or better said always the same for all types of databases. Of course there can be a slight differences between databases but there exists solutions. For the rest, making windows desktop application + installer to consume the webservice is a usual task. The web service will have the following features: It will have a simple configuration to setup database details via ODBC. It will provide some basic methods: - get product price and availability - get product description - get products list - get invoice list for customer - get invoice details - submit order The database access layer will to take into account that several versions of the database exist and each version will have a separate driver. The data access should work by creating database views which expose the fields need in for read purposes. The writing of data will have error messages for data validation. The project will have three (3) mile stones of 33% each After finishing each mile stone I will upload and install zip file with the scripts to create the database, a .dll file with the compiled code and the cshtml files with the javascript and html. When the project is finished (in the last miles stone) I will upload the install zip and a zip file with complete source for the project. Good day, i have knowledge with C# and Webservices and i have worked on several project where a webservice was used as a layer between application and database. In addition i am currently a DBA for a worldwide product with extensive knowledge with databases. Please not that especially the time is a preliminary best-case and may vary depending on details of your requirements. This is how i understand them: You have a database (may exist in several versions). My task would be to: -develop SQL scripts to create views to be used -develop Webservice to acces those views -make it possible for webservice to create orders (do i understand correctly that order submit would be an insert operation into database?). Here i would propose to use a stored procedure, which would again allow to shield webservice from potentional DB structure changes -pack the application into an installer I am interested in this project and would love to work on it with you.
