I would require all LEDs to be at 30% brightness, and LEDs to be 100% brightness when vehicle movement is being detected by IR sensors at LED1 and LED7. You would have to come up with the circuit diagram, and coding according to what I've stated above. Also, an explanation for the coding.

Hello, I have many experience with arduino and robotics. Please view my portfolio for more information. As I understood, the required task can be completed with in a day, if you need only the source code. An it do not cost more than $100. I was going to bid it for $57 and I like to complete this project for that amount ( source code + circuit diagram ). Do you need a PCB as well? Project approach: 1. Use an led driver ic to drive all the leds and pwm out pin from arduino to control the brightness. 2. Use an IR led and an IR sensor to detect the motion. IR sensor output a digital puls if it did not detected an IR light. IR led need to drive in 40kHz. 3. Connect the IR sensor out as an external interrupt to arudino. 4. When interrupted, set the pwm frequency to 100%. Need to discuss more on this project for some clarifications. Thanks, Kasun

Hi There, Reading through your requirements caught my attention as I have a solution in mind. A few questions and comments though, 1) You have a total of 12 LED's that need brightness control. However, the Arduino UNO you have has 6 PWM pins only. That means only 6 LEDs can be controlled INDIVIDUALLY. However, individual control is not necessary, then we could combine a number of LED's on one PWM pin. 2) I suppose he car is only travelling in one direction from LED 1/7 going to LED 6/12 right? By the way, I am an electronics engineer with 11 years experience working with microcontrollers, almost 4 years of those I've spent on Arduino related projects. (I've spent 5 years of those in Singapore :) ) thanks, Christian

The 30% brightness will be achieved through PWM so will the 100% brightness. there are 5 PWM pins so we can make 2 LEDs in parallel with each other. LED1 and LED7 will be the IR Transmitter and Reciever. I will make the circuit diagram in proteus and show you. Although I have written 10 days in completion it will be done much sooner. Hello, You just need to specify the vehicle size and have one IR source in front of the IR receiver at the opposite side of the vehicle. It will be also necessary to build an amplifier for the IR receiver. The rest is PWM coding task. So, what is the size of the vehicle or the distance between the IR source and the sensor? Arduino doesn't have 10 analog inputs. So you need also summer opamp circuit or multiplexer before analog inputs. I could send you circuit schemtic and code with explanations in one day. Best regards,

I am an enthusiastic, 3rd year student in the Netherlands and I have worked with this micro controller on a daily basis for more than one year. The profile I am studying is called Advanced Sensor Applications, therefore I have some experience with sensors as well. Your project does not look that complicated and my knowledge will definitely be sufficient to achieve its purposes. I have some questions regarding the IR sensors. How many of them are they? What model? How do you want to place them? Regarding the control of the LEDs, I will use a technique called Charlieplexing, where you can use just 4 pins of the Arduino Uno to control 12 LEDs. I have recently done a similar project at school using this technique, where I had to control 20 leds from 5 pins. I would be more than glad to show you a short video of how I am controlling them individually. I would also have some questions regarding the behavior of the whole system, therefore I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

Ok we can do this project by using an IR sensor at LED 1 and 7. Using pulse width modulation to control the brightness of the LEDs all together we can have 30% brightness of LEDS at the beginning. Once motion is detected the LED's light at 100%. IF it is a demonstration is required It can be done on a piece of wood the size of a laptop. The LEDs can be arranged and wired to the arduino.
