So what you need is a system to manage the compensation payments for your consultants. It sounds similar to a network marketing operation. You will need a database system to do this properly, and if the system is be to be used on one network, or in one office, MS Access is more than sufficient to do the job. You can establish different accounts for admin staff and consultants to control what each of them can do, and what they can see. Your data set is (roughly speaking): consultants, billings and placings, and you will need tables created for each of these, plus another two: one containing the compensation algorithm parameters, and another calculating the actual monetary compensation for each consultant. The calculations of the latter would take place automatically as you enter the consultant's results. Without going into too much detail at this point you may want to look at an Access project I did recently called 'Class Management System' on my profile. Yours need not be as elaborate but it shows you how Access can provide you with the data entry and analysis / reporting functionality you require. Excel could also be kept in the mix for reporting purposes.

I propose to create a Windows based application which will does the required calculations and we can store this information in SQL Server to make it secure. Besides that we can have option to send reports to individual consultant as an email. That way they will have a complete details about how they earned their commission/bonus etc as well as no access to other consultant's information. Hi, I have 10+ years of experience in vb, excel,asp.net, SQL server. I have done several similar projects. If you have a big number of consultants I think it is best to go for online application. I can do it using vb.net and SQL server database. I can provide you demo for the same. Provide me your detail requirements (How many ranks are there and payment criteria in detail). Every consultant will be able to login to their account (Restricted to only his/her own information) and there will a different login panel for Admin.
