You need a better theme layout structure that can serve travel website layout, it should be more like magazine theme which can contain lot of images and data and featured content areas to focus on specific areas time to time, existing theme is broad and with some few large images. Content is less and site load time increase because of heavy data like large images and very long page - page should be less longer - user does not like to scroll much to see few things. You can manage that with other ways. Well, you mentioned it for shorter time frame - but that should take a fair amount of time to set it up. Tripadvisor is a good example for travel site. Quote is a approx one, need to be discussed for the requirements you have, it may exceed based on the layouts and features addition and design requirements.
