I am having issues completing the data update portion of an entry form. Every piece of code I write updates the tables that feed into the main table and it is not supposed to do that. Only supposed to read from the relational tables and allow the user to edit the record in the main table. I have a main form and a form that appears when the user finds a record they wish to edit. But when I double click to edit, the fields are blank. They need to see the fields appearing in main table and can edit those based on the relational tables without altering those relational tables. The tables that are not the Main are never to be updated. That is set information. Only the Main table gets updates. The next issue is the ability to add a file within the update form. Then another issue is to be able on the main form view an attachment based on the highlighted record in the listbox the user has selected.

firstly i need to know more about the tables and which table is the "Main" and which is a lookup table. The form probably hasn't been designed that well if changes are made to the lookup table(s). This should be very straight forward. What kind of file needs to be added in this update form ( i presume it is the main form described, and where should it be added to? I would have to view the main form and it's list box to know what you want to do here. What do you mean by "view" an attachment? All the above should be easy enough to do with a little more explanation. So extra info is required to complete this job, depending on what you spell out also determines if the job can be done quicker and less expensive.
