Assist with development of dialer based on Ruby/Ruby on Rails

We are looking for a seasoned developer that has experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails or Sinatra, MySQL, Redis and is a fast learner. We are currently developing a a large scale predictive dialer system which needs to be highly efficient and robust against downtime and large call volumes. The development team currently consists of one developer and we are looking for a second developer to work on an hourly basis to assist with the development of some aspects of the system. You will need to be available for periodic meetings (we are based UTC + 2), and have the ability to work efficiently alone. There is definitely scope for the selected candidate to do more work for us in the future if we are happy with your performance. Our senior developer is well experienced in Ruby, MySQL, Redis and Rails so be prepared for a basic exercise to test a few core skills. The exercise shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to complete. Tools we use: MySQL (Sequel), Redis, Git, Ruby, Grape framework (similar to Sinatra but specialized for APIs), Ruby on Rails, Celluloid, Sidekiq, Capistrano, Linux (Ubuntu). We don't expect you to know all of these but a good candidate should have a good mix of these and an eagerness to learn. Communication: You don't need to be in our Time zone, but you need to be available for meetings between 8am and 8pm (UTC +2). Meetings will be conducted via Skype, and will occur as deemed nessasary by ourselves. Work Ethic: We take work ethic very seriously and have a strict deadline ethic. We do not accept half hearted excuses and the missing of deadlines. Inefficient half hearted solutions will not be accepted. However, we are looking for individuals who are capable of using their brains, and if you can motivate a better way of doing things we are open to suggestions.` Do you fit the spec: The application development is very specialised and you will be required to sign an NDA. Job Outline: You will be required to develop part of the dialer API, which runs on Grape using JSON, MySQL (Sequel), and Redis. This API needs to interface with a worker thread that pushes data from the database to Redis based on a number of parameters. Estimated Hours: 15 hours
