Need Best Practices Concept & Functional Demo of Internet-based Client-Server data access: Think of w[[login to view URL]][1], but for data only, rather than entire desktop. 1. Data resides with data owner (them<g>). 2. Secure access to data via website (me<g>). I do NOT want the primary liability of handling/safeguarding their data. They do not want to turn their data over to an outsider, either. Probably it will be necessary to have a secondary backup of their data, in case they "lose it", however. 3. Data consumer #1: Winform desktop & Pocket PC. Power user/data creator, maximum data manipulation. 4. Data consumer #2: ASP.net-VB. Primarily viewing, some limited ADDITION (no delete or edit) of data. Browser access only. 5. Data access: [login to view URL], SQL Server. 6. Answer could be that it is impractical to have the data other than at the server. In that case, then the concept should be modified in that respect only. 8.
