Hi - This is a project that we are doing to calculate the fuel consumption. The device captures the fuel level from the vehicle and is reported as shown in the below excel attached. The issue is due to the fluctuation in the data that we get. However, if one looks at the trend line, it shows the pattern and gives the right picture as shown. The requirement is noted in "Notes" tab of the spreadsheet. Only those who have worked with statistical functions may come forward as I am looking to have this as early as possible. Anyone with thorough expertise in any of PHP, Perl, Java and Python and who have dealt with statistical functions may attempt. Thank you.

I wrote Perl for Walmart Stores, Inc. for 13 years and have a vast amount of expertise churning through data like such as yours. I already have the script written and can deliver it to you once we complete our transaction. I do have questions around your data. It looks as though it fluctuates quite a bit and I'm wondering if this is due to the vehicle traveling up and down hills. Would this be correct? I've set up my script to report instances where fuel level has increased or decreased by 5 liters and it produces the results below.
