Code Cleanup & New Features

This project is to do code clean-up and add new features to an astrology-based application and ecommerce web site. The astrology-based application creates astrology reports and runs in Visual Basic on its own server. Here is what needs to be done to it:

1) Fix two significant bugs in the application that can sometimes cause the system to crash.

2) Add a few new report types to the application. This will just require altering the existing reports to produce new ones. All the parameters are already set.

3) Create a simple desktop application that monitors the astrology-based application so that it alerts the webmaster when it has crashed. This has been started, but not finished. You would have the option to start from scratch, or use what has already been done.

The ecommerce web site is a membership-based site that is built in PHP and runs a MySQL database. Here is what needs to be done to it:

1. Fix a handful of minor bugs.

2. Add some new features regarding membership. This will require some new functionality, but will not require any graphic design work.

3. Build sub-sites that sells related products. All graphic design and page layout will be provided for you. But these sites will have some of its own unique functionality.

4. Build administrative web pages for the webmaster. This is simply a series web pages that make it easy to search the customer database or run reports on sales, etc. No graphic work required.

Finally, we need documentation on both the astrology-based application and the ecommerce site. A lot of it has already been written, but it is imcomplete and needs to be cleaned up.

If you end up doing this project, you will likely have to spend a bit of time getting up to speed on the astrology-based application. It is complex and a a little quirky, which is why fixing the bugs has been a bit difficult.

## Deliverables

The most important part of the deliverable is that all aspects get delivered. Although there are varying parts to the project, I need to have just one person/team do them all, since getting up the learning curve on the astrology application takes some time.

Apart from that, here is what is required

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done, and complete documentation.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

## Platform

The astrology-based application works in VB on a Windows server.

The ecommerce site runs on a dedicated Linux server, using PHP and MySQL.

We will need the small desktop application (that monitors the astrology application) to work on Windows 2K or higher.
