I am looking for someone to build a rule-based email filter that is easy to install. It should work on client and server levels and let the person installing choose: run on the client or run on a server. Must run on Windows as a plug-in to Outlook. We will want to expand this eventually to other client email programs and operating systems.

This app does not to be (and should not be) built from scratch. The easiest approach will be to modify an open-source filter that runs on the client and/or server, such as SpamAssassin.

Our product is not a spam filter but it is conceptually similar -- it simply has to grab an email and look at it before passing it along. (Sorry, but I can't describe the exact nature of the product here).

Qualifications: experience with email filters, modifying open-source code (especially email/spam filters), Outlook plug-ins.

The ruleset for the filter is simple. The most important feature is the install: it has to be easy for an ordinary consumer, with none of the open-source "guts" showing. In addition to being dirt simple to install, it must provoke minimal tech support calls and entail no need for a server admin to get involved.

I would like to find someone to start within 7 days and finish by the end of January. Pay is flexible depending on your expertise in this area.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
