Coding of XHTML templates (valid, tableless and cross-browser )

## THE PROBLEM Internet Explorer <=6.* ignores the defined dimensions of div/span boxes. The boxes become wider as soon as the text is wider than the box. The result: Two boxes with fixed widths and positioned using float:left and float:right do not fit next to each other anymore but wrap into a “new line?? underneath each other instead. So the two boxes are below each other and not next to each other anymore. We could not find workarounds which where satisfactory (the content inside the box must NOT be cropped but wrapped inside the box). ## REQUIREMENTS * If possible do not change the existing structure and if you need to, change as little as possible. The order of the div elements is already optimized for search engines. * The code must run correctly on the following systems: Firefox 1.0 and above on Windows, Mac and Linux systems, Internet Explorer 6.0 and above on Windows (including version 7!), Safari on Mac ## WORKFLOW 1. Download the attached zip-file and install the project in your local XAMPP or LAMPP environment (instructions are also in the zip). 2. Fix the IE6-incompatibility directly inside the given code. 3. Deliver a zip with all changes and we check the code back into our versioning system. ## NEXT STEPS If this problem in IE6 is fixed we want to give out more HTML work this way. ## COMMUNICATION * I personally will not be able to check my e-mails before Monday, 4th of December. Ask all your questions regarding this project but please be patient for the answers until then. * Please include three references in your bid that show your skills in coding valid and tableless XHTML/CSS (for example links to finished projects) ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
