A small tool to replace characters under Windows

The task is creating a small windows tool to replace characters in any currently open windows application (texts in Word, in Excel, in e-mail programmes, etc.). The tool should * Replace only characters in the current selection * Start up with windows, but there should also be an option to start it only when really needed * Work at least under Win XP and Win 7 * Should have an opportunity to assign a deliberately chosen key short cut (such as Alt+T,T or what ever) to trigger it (i.e to execute it on a selected text section) The purpose of the tool will be to transform Bulgarian text written in Latin characters to text written in Cyrillic characters. You receive from me script that does exactly what I need, with the one restriction that it is executable only in a web browser (it is a html file with some javascript). The script includes all necessary transliteration rules. Therefore, your task is only to make this working in all windows applications, not only in a web browser. ## Deliverables Detailed requirements 1) Purpose of the programme: The programme will swap characters (Latin to Cyrillic) in any given screen under windows. This includes especially selected text in word processors, spreadsheets, thunderbird, but also in forms to fill in in the internet (googlemail, etc.). Swapping must affect only text which is selected (cursor). 2) Coding elements to help you You receive from me a perfectly working html file with javascript which includes the tables what Latin characters (or combination of characters) to replace with what Cyrillic letter. (See attachment) Note 1: The script attached provides a number of additional functions such as on-the-fly adaption of the characters' table which are not (!) intended to be part of the tool I ask you to create. Note 2: In the script, there are certain character combinations that must be adapted in the final tool. For example "yu" --> "?" must become "ju" --> "?". 3) Detailed requirements * The programme should be able to be run independently on any Win XP or Win 7 machine; * there should be an option setting that makes it start up when Windows starts, but there should be also an option to switch this off and to start it only on demand. If a dialogue screen for such settings is too much work, I accept also command line settings. * The programme should take aktion (= swap letters in a selected range of text) after hitting a short cut such as "Alt TT". There should be an option to choose a deliberate short cut key combination. (If this is too complicated, we may agree upon a certain pre-defined short cut.) * Character case is relevant! * There should not be any restriction in terms of number of characters to be replaced. If a restriction is necessary for technical reasons, it should be > 50 000 characters. 4) Additional understandings * Preferably, the table which defines what Latin character (or combination of characters) will be changed with what Cyrillic character should be easily accessible without too much specialized coding tools or knowledge, so that certain pairs can be changed later, if necessary, without bothering the worker. * There is no requierement whatsoever in terms of design of dialogue fields etc (if such are used). The important thing is that it works. * It would be preferable if the tool runs under Windows without being represented in the Windows task bar. * Execution time is important as far as replacing the characters should take as little time as possible. (Of course, if very large texts are selected, execution time may last longer) I will be happy to discuss with you further details.
