Decompile and Rebuild Video Compression Codec

Hello, I am a software engineer with rich experience in a number of IT technologies, including but not limited to C/C++ programming, Software architecture, Kernel development etc. The project looks challenging to me and I would be interested to participate. The project description certainly lacks details. It would be nice to know the video codec name at least. That would allow to make some googling to get the codec specification / description. On the other hand, if specification is not publicly available, reverse engineering is always a possibility. But please make sure you have all legal aspects of it solved.
