Convert Word Document to PDF

I need a function that converts a Word 2000/XP/2003/2007 document to PDF, if possible without using a printer driver or any command line or background threads. I am looking for a clean implementation using a .NET (or COM) library, where I get a definite response when a job is done. The SaveAsPDF function built into Word 2007 cannot be used, because this wouldn't be compatible with older Word versions. It must be possible to perform fast seaches across the PDF document. Some convertors, mostly printer drivers, output the Word text as image or don't add search indexing or whatever, which gives very poor search performance. To see the difference, convert a 100 page Word document using e.g. PDF995 printer driver and Word 2007 convertor. When searching in the PDF, you will note a significant difference in search speed. In case a commercial library is used, I would consider buying or licensing that library from the vendor, in addition to the bid you have placed. Given the same functionality, I would prefer using free libraries over licensed libraries, and I would prefer a one-time license fee over royalty based licensing. Not part of this bid request, but required in a second step, we will need to make one big PDF out of many small PDFs. It would be a big advantage, if the same library could be used for that job. The library, in the big PDF, should then support the functionality of showing each separate document as an entry in the contents pane of Adobe Reader. Class: DocumentHandling Shared Sub: WordToPDF(WordDocument, PDFDocument) The sub must return when the PDF has been created. When an error occurs, an Exception must be thrown with a detailed error message. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). IMPORTANT NOTE: In your bid request, please specify which library you want to use for conversion and/or how you will perform the job.
