Hello there, We have 8 years of experience in embedded systems and electronics prototyping. Designing a dual-input phone charging system is a classic mixed-signal challenge — the power conversion topology chosen upfront drives everything from EMI to thermal behavior. For the AC path, we'd use a flyback converter — ideal for the 5W–25W range with low component count. The DC path uses a synchronous buck converter for 90%+ efficiency. Both feed a common regulation stage with proper AC-side isolation and careful ground plane separation during layout. We'd simulate in LTspice over MATLAB — it models real component parasitics far more accurately for power electronics. PCB design in KiCad or Altium with proper thermal relief pads and creepage distances for the AC section. We've worked alongside EE teams on embedded power projects, handling simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout while hardware specialists managed physical builds — that collaborative model works well here too. The biggest risk is thermal performance in a compact enclosure. We'd include thermal simulation and specify copper pours early, not as an afterthought.
