The task is to create a complete, server-based file-sharing application from scratch. I want a standalone file server that handles uploads, downloads, permission management, and performance optimisation in a single, well-architected solution. Scope • Design the overall architecture (front-end, back-end, storage layer). • Develop the core file-handling APIs and the web interface. • Implement granular user and group permissions. • Optimise transfer speed, concurrency handling, and storage efficiency. • Containerise and script deployment so the server spins up smoothly on a fresh Linux instance. • Provide concise documentation covering build steps, configuration, and maintenance. Tech stack is flexible: Node.js with Express, or Python with FastAPI, Go, or another modern framework you are confident will deliver high throughput and security. Please incorporate a robust authentication layer (JWT, OAuth, or similar) and use a relational or object-store backend that scales. Acceptance criteria 1. Users can upload, download, rename, and delete files through both UI and REST endpoints. 2. Role-based access works reliably; unauthorised requests are blocked and logged. 3. Server sustains at least 500 concurrent connections with transfer speeds within 10 % of baseline disk read/write. 4. Full project builds with a single command (Docker Compose or equivalent) and passes provided smoke tests. Hand over the source code in a private repo plus a short video or text walkthrough of the deployment. Once these checkpoints are met, I will review and sign off.
