Scope of Work – Structural & Civil Design of Steel Workshop Building with EOT Crane We require an experienced Structural/Civil Engineer or Engineering firm to carry out the complete design of civil foundations and structural steel** for an industrial workshop building equipped with an Electric Overhead Traveling (EOT) crane. The consultant is expected to deliver a fully coordinated, code-compliant, fabrication-ready and construction-ready design package, including calculations, drawings, connection details, and bar bending schedules. This is an extension of an existing workshop building — the existing structure is to be extended by 20 meters in length (i.e., additional bays added along the length, matching the existing building's width, eave height, and roof configuration unless otherwise directed). Scope of Services A. Structural Steel Design - Primary framing design: columns, rafters/roof trusses or beams, bracing systems (vertical & horizontal/plan bracing), gable end framing - EOT crane gantry girder design (including surge girder/channel, rail, crane stopper/buffer arrangement) - Crane column design (stepped/laced columns as applicable) with separate load paths for crane surge, vertical, and longitudinal (tractive) loads - Purlins, sag rods, eave struts, and side/roof bracing - Design of all secondary steel: platforms, walkways, ladders, monorails (if any), pipe racks (if any) - Anchor bolt design and base plate design for all columns - Connection design & detailing (moment connections, shear connections, splices, base plates, bracing gusset connections) – bolted and/or welded as appropriate - Deflection checks (especially crane girder deflection & lateral drift limits per crane duty class) - Fatigue check for crane girder and connections (per crane duty cycle/class) B. Civil / Foundation Design - Geotechnical load transfer and foundation type selection (isolated footing, combined footing, raft, or pile foundation based on soil report) - Design of foundations for columns, crane columns, and any machine/equipment bases - Design of grade beams / plinth beams, if required - Pedestal design and anchor bolt embedment/pull-out checks - Foundation design for any crane-specific loading (impact, surge, longitudinal tractive force) - Flooring slab design (if industrial floor slab-on-grade is part of scope) – including joints, reinforcement, and load capacity for expected floor loading (forklift, storage racks, etc.) - Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) for all reinforced concrete elements C. Deliverables 1. Design Basis Report (DBR) – covering codes, loads, load combinations, material grades, and design assumptions 2. Detailed structural design calculations (steel + RCC), computer analysis output (STAAD Pro or equivalent) and hand-calculation backup for connections 3. General Arrangement (GA) drawings – foundation layout, column layout, roof plan, elevations, sections 4. Fabrication/shop drawings for all structural steel members 5. Connection detail drawings (bolted/welded, base plates, splices, bracing) 6. Foundation drawings with reinforcement details 7. Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) – all RCC elements, tabulated with bar marks, shapes, and quantities per IS 2502 / BS 8666 / ACI detailing standards (as applicable) 8. Steel take-off / Bill of Quantities (BOQ) – member-wise steel tonnage 9. Concrete & reinforcement BOQ 10. Detailed quantites of connection bolts with sizing details, sandwich panels, roof panels, purlins etc. 10. Native design files (STAAD/SAP model files, AutoCAD/Revit drawing files) Applicable Codes & Standards Design shall follow the latest editions of the applicable AISC codes, specifically: - Steel design: AISC 360 (Specification for Structural Steel Buildings), latest edition - Loads: ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures), latest edition - Seismic design: ASCE 7 seismic provisions / AISC 341 (Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings), if applicable to the site's seismic category - Crane loads/crane runway design: AISC Design Guide 7 (Industrial Buildings – Roofs to Anchor Rods) and CMAA 70 for crane duty classification and impact/lateral/longitudinal load factors - Concrete/foundation design: ACI 318 (Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete), latest edition - Detailing/BBS: ACI 315 / CRSI detailing standards, adapted to bar mark/schedule format as commonly used for construction bar bending schedules - Bolting: RCSC Specification for Structural Joints Using High-Strength Bolts - Welding: AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding Code – Steel) The freelancer should confirm the exact edition/year of each code intended to be used at proposal stage, and should flag if any provision requires the site-specific wind speed, seismic parameters, or soil bearing data (to be furnished by client on award, per Section 5). Software Requirement - All new design and analysis for this project (extension + tie-in) is to be carried out in STAAD.Pro. - I have an ETABS model as a reference for member sizes, existing loading, and geometry. This can be provided on request to expedite the work - Drawings/BOQ/BBS deliverables to be produced in AutoCAD (or Revit if agreed) regardless of analysis software used. - Demonstrated experience in industrial steel shed / PEB / EOT crane-supporting structure design - Proficiency in [login to view URL] and AutoCAD/Tekla - Familiarity with relevant codes as per project country - Portfolio of at least 2–3 similar completed projects (please share samples of prior calculation reports and shop drawings) - Ability to issue IFC (Issued for Construction) quality drawings and respond to review comments
