Hi,
I need some help with the rpcuser pass file and chmod in /.bitcoin/[login to view URL]
I have installed bitcoin on an EC2 Linux AMI. The blocks have sync'd, I can see my balance and see the block count live so all is working well however when I run a command: "sudo bitcoin-cli restart" I get this message:
---
sudo bitcoin-cli restart
error: You must set rpcpassword=<password> in the configuration file:
/root/.bitcoin/[login to view URL]
If the file does not exist, create it with owner-readable-only file permissions.
---
No matter what info I put in the [login to view URL] file and no matter what I chmod the file to, the error remains. This is essential for me to get working because I am using the EC2 instance as a daemon and am using it to pass data to a DB on another server. Once the daemon reads the /.[login to view URL] file, then it will be able to pass over the information to the other DB server.
If you think you can help then please let me know and I will select you.
I have worked extensively with Bitcoin, Litecoin, PPCoin, and a menagerie of other similar projects on Linux, and have deployed large-scale cloud mining of several coins on EC2. Troubleshooting your issue with your configuration file should be trivial.
