Mutex Thread Lock / Memory Buffer

I have been given a mutex thread lock application that I need to code some functions/segments to and I need assistance. Essentially, The idea is to have log-writer threads to write to a shared memory buffer and a log-flusher thread flush the memory buffer to a file. The shared memory buffer limits the number of I/O operations. Most of the program has been completed, however, I am having difficulties getting the remainder to work.
