I am developing a soft goods product: a towel with an elasticized opening that fits over the neck of a 40oz water bottle and drapes down (see attached reference image). Intended bottle compatibility: Owala FreeSip 32oz and ideally a Takeya 40oz (would love if it fit both using elastic). Target fabric: Most likely terry or cotton. Primary use case: Gym setting (F45-style classes) — product needs to come off and on quickly during workouts. Before creating a physical prototype, I would like an experienced product designer or engineer to: 1. Assess whether this product is mechanically and practically feasible. 2. Identify structural or usability flaws. 3. Flag potential failure points (elastic wear, seam stress, bulk, safety, draping issues, etc.). 4. Recommend optimal construction methods. 5. Provide clear technical instructions I can give to a seamstress for prototype creation. 6. Suggest material specifications (fabric weight, elasticity type, casing construction, etc.). 7. Advise on improvements for scalability and manufacturing. Deliverables: • Written feasibility analysis • List of risks / constraints • Suggested materials + measurements • Basic technical sketch with notes • Step-by-step prototype construction guidance Bonus (optional but helpful): • Pattern suggestion • Elastic tension recommendations • Wash/durability considerations • Notes on how to reduce bulk while maintaining function Please share relevant experience in soft goods product development.
