I manually save the data from a serial "printing" device connected to a laptop via hyperterminal (remember that program?) but post processing and so on is killing my time. I am old now and just don't have time to do it anymore. operating system is 32bit and/or 64 bit windows. ( i have both) basically you will be making a serial connection, receiving text data that needs parsing, apply simple math, saving the data. There is a file attached that explains in detail better. it is a PDF that needs to be read. It is not a perfect file, but as we work on the project, we can refine it to handle exceptions better. (such as no comm port, com port lost during logging, etc) Description of actual usage: A fluke hydra series II data logger will be “printing” data on its serial port output which is connected to a laptop. The steps are 1: serial connection setup 2: verify serial connection 3: enter corrections (if any) 4: operation with autosave active 5: stopped and notes entered.
