I have an existing two-layer FR4 board that now needs a clean Rev 2 spin for a consumer-electronics application. The current schematic and PCB files (KiCad) are available; the goal is to tighten the layout, correct a few routing issues around the microcontroller, and add a properly-impedance-controlled USB interface brought out to a Type-C connector. No RF sections are involved, so the focus remains on signal integrity, power distribution, and manufacturability on standard 1-oz copper, 1.6 mm FR4. Please keep the microcontroller footprint unchanged, as the firmware team is already locked to that part. All other passives can move if it improves routing or clears DFM constraints. I also need silk updates for clearer assembly markings. Deliverables • Updated schematic and PCB source files (KiCad) • Production-ready Gerbers, drill files, and IPC-356 netlist • Updated BOM with any new part numbers or values • Brief change log highlighting every modification from Rev 1 Acceptance criteria • USB differential pairs length-matched within ± 0.25 mm and routed as 90 Ω ±10 % differential impedance • All design rule checks pass at JLCPCB default specs with 0 errors • No new air-wires, unconnected nets, or acute trace angles below 45° Once the Rev 2 package meets these points, the project is complete and ready for fabrication.

Hi I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience. I have extensive experience with KiCad PCB revisions for consumer electronics, especially small two-layer FR4 boards where USB routing, power integrity, assembly clarity, and fabrication constraints all need to be handled carefully. For your Rev 2 spin I can keep the existing microcontroller footprint unchanged, clean the routing around it, improve passives placement where useful, add the Type-C USB interface with controlled 90 ohm differential routing and tight length matching, and update the silkscreen so the board is easier to assemble and inspect. I will also check the design against JLCPCB-style manufacturing rules and deliver the full fabrication package: updated KiCad files, Gerbers, drill files, IPC-356 netlist, BOM updates, and a clear Rev 1 to Rev 2 change log. A couple of quick confirmations would help before starting: is the Type-C connection USB 2.0 only, and do you already have a preferred Type-C connector or JLCPCB part number? I can also support any small firmware or bring-up considerations if the USB or power changes need checking after fabrication. Please contact me to discuss details.

Hi, I have 12+ years of experience in prototype electronics, cable harnesses, and embedded hardware, supporting 40+ production and pre-production projects including custom wiring assemblies, sensor interfaces, waterproof cable routing, and field-test prototypes. I routinely prepare assemblies for validation with clear documentation, continuity testing, and reliable strain-relief methods. Approach ✅ I will review your drawings and existing prototype, identify the required cable modifications, connectors, and waterproofing approach before building the trial batch. ✅ I will assemble each cable harness with accurate cutting, soldering or crimping, insulation, strain relief, and appropriate waterproof sealing while maintaining consistent build quality. ✅ I will electrically verify every assembly with continuity and polarity checks before delivery and document any recommendations for improving manufacturability in future iterations. Questions ✅ Could you share the cable drawings, connector types, and the required waterproof rating (for example IP65 or IP67)? ✅ Which materials will you supply, and which components should the assembler source? ✅ I noticed you prefer a UK-based supplier for iterative development; would remote engineering support and assembly documentation also be useful if local production is selected? Transform Rev 1 into a cleaner, fabrication-ready Rev 2: I’ll rework your existing KiCad two-layer FR4 (1-oz, 1.6 mm) to tighten MCU-area routing, fix identified routing issues, and add a properly impedance-controlled USB link to a Type‑C connector—without changing the microcontroller footprint (firmware lock preserved). I’ll also update silk so assembly markings are clearer and unambiguous for production. Before/after impact: the USB differential pairs will be length-matched within ±0.25 mm and routed for 90 Ω ±10% differential impedance. I’ll strengthen power distribution (planes/returns where appropriate), improve manufacturability (standard trace angles), and ensure DFM compatibility on JLCPCB defaults at 0 DRC errors. Passives may move if it reduces congestion or clears constraints. Deliverables: updated KiCad schematic/PCB, production Gerbers+drill+IPC‑356 netlist, and an updated BOM with any new part numbers.

Need a Rev 2 PCB that keeps firmware compatibility but fixes layout and USB signal integrity? I’ll re-spin your existing 2-layer 1.6 mm FR4 (1-oz) KiCad project: tighten routing around the microcontroller without changing its footprint, correct any current routing issues, and redesign the USB interface with impedance-controlled differential pairs to a Type-C connector. No RF involved—so the priority is clean power distribution, manufacturability, and SI/DFM-ready layout. What will you receive once the layout is solid? Updated KiCad schematic+PCB sources, production Gerbers/drill files, and an IPC-356 netlist; plus a revised BOM and silk updates for clearer assembly markings. I’ll include a brief Rev 1 change log listing every modification. Acceptance is clear: USB pair length match within ±0.25 mm and 90 Ω ±10% differential impedance, JLCPCB default DRC passes with 0 errors, and no acute angles <45° or unconnected nets.
