I want every time the storeroom door or cabinet is opened, a fingerprint reader confirms the user’s identity and my Python-based inventory system instantly records the event. The current application is custom built, so there is no ready-made API for a lock; you will need to create that bridge from scratch and make sure the database, UI and hardware talk to each other seamlessly. I need help on both fronts—hardware wiring/firmware as much as the Python code—so plan on handling sensor selection, controller setup, relay or smart-lock activation, plus the software layer that authenticates the print, checks permissions, triggers the lock/unlock, and then writes a clean access log. An admin panel already exists; you will extend it so I can add or revoke fingerprints, assign user roles and view a searchable history. Please be comfortable interfacing fingerprint modules to microcontrollers or SBCs, writing efficient, well-commented Python, and exposing the functions via REST or direct library calls, whichever proves cleaner for my stack. Security, error handling and fail-safe behaviour (power loss, reader faults) must be considered from the outset.
