Hardware / Embedded Systems Intern Company: 10X Technologies Product: Wireless AI Smart Speaker Location: Hyderabad (Hybrid / Optional In-Office) Duration: 3–6 Months (Flexible) About 10X Technologies 10X Technologies is building LUCA, a next-generation AI-powered smart assistant designed to feel less like a device and more like a companion. LUCA combines custom AI, deep OS-level control, expressive visual identity, and compact consumer hardware into a single unified product. We are currently in a build-focused phase, working on an investor-grade MVP backed by a government grant. This is not a college project or a theoretical internship — this is hands-on product engineering, where what you build will be physically demoed to investors, partners, and early users. Role Overview We are looking for a Hardware / Embedded Systems Intern who enjoys working with real electronics, assembling components, testing hardware, and turning ideas into physical devices. You will work closely with the founder and the core engineering team to help build and refine the LUCA MVP hardware prototype — a compact, table-ready AI device. This role is ideal for someone who prefers hands-on engineering over theory, enjoys debugging real-world problems, and wants exposure to how consumer hardware startup's are actually built. What You Will Work On As a Hardware / Embedded Systems Intern, your responsibilities will include: Hardware Assembly & Integration • Sourcing and assembling electronic components (boards, sensors, batteries, speakers, displays, etc.) • Wiring, soldering, and physically integrating components into a working prototype • Helping reduce size and complexity compared to early bulky prototypes Power & Battery Systems • Working with Li-ion / Li-Po batteries • Understanding power requirements of different components • Assisting in creating a simple, reliable power setup suitable for an MVP demo Sensors & Peripherals • Integrating sensors such as accelerometers and gyroscopes • Testing motion-based inputs and ensuring reliable signal behaviour • Working with microphones, speakers, and basic audio hardware Testing & Debugging • Testing hardware stability and identifying failure points • Debugging power issues, connectivity issues, or component-level problems • Iterating quickly to improve reliability for demos Enclosure & Physical Design Support • Supporting basic enclosure work (3D printing, fitting components into housings) • Helping ensure components fit cleanly into an orb / compact form factor • Coordinating with designers and software team where needed What This Role Is NOT To set expectations clearly, this role is not about: • VLSI / ASIC / chip design • Semiconductor fabrication • Academic electronics research • Writing papers or simulations only This role is about building a real, working device. Who Should Apply You are a great fit if you: • Have hands-on experience with embedded systems or electronics • Have worked with platforms like Raspberry Pi, Banana Pi, ESP32, Arduino, STM32, or similar • Are comfortable with basic soldering, wiring, and debugging • Enjoy working with sensors, batteries, and physical hardware • Have built projects such as: • IoT devices • Robotics projects • DIY electronics • Hackathon hardware prototypes Formal experience matters less than proof that you have built things that actually work.
