I need a compact, battery-powered hour meter that bolts onto a piece of marine equipment, connects to the boat’s Wi-Fi, and silently counts every minute the engine runs. Beyond simple hour logging, it must also sample and report its own battery voltage so I can tell when the internal cell is getting low. The device should push both data points—total run-time and current battery level—to a cloud endpoint I’ll expose. I plan to read everything from a web-based remote dashboard, so no on-device screen is required. An LED or brief buzzer chirp during initial pairing is fine, but the unit will spend most of its life sealed in a damp engine bay. Reliability and low standby draw are therefore critical. Please deliver: • Hardware schematic and bill of materials for readily available components (must be available in Qatar!!!) • Firmware I will complete myself, but for the prove of concept, the designer must show it works • A short setup guide so I can flash, seal, and mount the unit without specialised lab gear NOTE: this will be the first of many projects, so the lower the bids the more opportunities you will have to work with me in the future.

Hello, your need for a sealed, low-draw marine hour meter is thoughtfully defined. I can design a compact Wi-Fi hour meter that detects engine run state, accumulates runtime locally, measures its own battery voltage, and uploads both values to your cloud endpoint. The design will prioritize deep-sleep operation, robust 12/24V input protection, moisture-resistant installation, and reliable recovery when boat Wi-Fi is unavailable. Deliverables: • Schematic, PCB files, and BOM with readily available component alternatives • Working proof of concept: engine-run detection, battery ADC reading, Wi-Fi/API JSON upload • Low-power architecture and local data buffering • Simple flashing, sealing, and mounting guide For battery life, I recommend logging continuously but transmitting only on configurable intervals and/or engine stop events rather than maintaining a constant Wi-Fi connection. Before starting, please confirm: engine electrical system voltage (12V/24V), available ignition, preferred reporting interval, and whether the internal battery must be rechargeable. I can begin with a practical PoC and provide a design ready for your firmware completion and future production iterations.

I will deliver a working proof of concept for a sealed Wi-Fi marine hour meter that records engine-running minutes and reports both cumulative runtime and internal battery voltage to your cloud endpoint. I will lead the requirements, component selection, integration, testing, and final handover, coordinating suitable embedded-design support where needed while remaining your single accountable contact. The first checkpoint will map the safest engine-run signal, expected reporting interval, and endpoint payload. I will then produce the schematic, verify a bill of materials against Qatar availability, demonstrate runtime detection and voltage reporting, and document flashing, sealing, and mounting without specialised lab equipment. Testing will cover false triggering, Wi-Fi reconnection, retained totals after power loss, and standby consumption so the proof is measurable rather than visual only. Which engine signal can the unit access: ignition voltage, alternator output, vibration, or an inductive pickup?

Hi, We are available to take this on and get your Wi-Fi Marine Hour Meter working perfectly. The main issue with partially built IoT prototypes is usually the power management or Wi-Fi reconnection reliability in damp enclosures specifically. Are you planning to use an ESP32-C6 for better power efficiency and do you want the sensor telemetry pushed via MQTT or a REST endpoint? I recently fixed a similar remote monitoring device for a maritime logistics firm that needed custom telemetry injected into cloud dashboards. I used low-power sleep modes to hook into the hardware timers and built a firmware routine that validated sensor inputs before using HTTP POST methods to update the server. I corrected their circuit schematic to ensure stable power delivery across harsh marine environments. Our fix stopped their device data from being lost during disconnects and made the whole monitoring process way faster for their team. We are eager to discuss the project further. Reach out to initiate a conversation! Best regards, TechAriba
