I require a metallurgical engineer capable of theoretical calculations specifically related to steel-on-steel abrasion rates. This is a one-time project, with the possibility of add-on work later. The basics of this project: -You will be calculating the steel abrasion rates for various types of steel musket barrels (circa 1750AD) firing steel bullets of softer steel. As none remain to examine this will be purely theoretical. -As this is a personal project, I cannot afford much, so priority is given to the candidate who can both do the work, and can work for less than competitors. -Your work will help to recreate a working example of a 1750 musket that has been lost to history, and I am happy to discuss the possibility of payment in the form of historical items, replicas, etc. A love of history is going to prove quite helpful in any candidate. I must stress that I know engineers are a well-paid industry, I am not expecting anyone to assist for free, but I am a single person, on a personal project to resurrect this historical firearm. I cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars.
