We are an alternative community education site, which also hosts afterschool and weekend sessions. We are looking for a Excel Database SIM, that works for our particular needs. We are looking for someone to build us an excel database which, has one overall worksheet, which holds all the admin/data we need. This particular database will only be given to main management and administration team. Then we would like other departments to have their own worksheets, that feed off of some parts/information in the main database, with the ability to change certain but not all information, for their particular department. We would need a way for the main database and aspects of information to not be accessible by the other department worksheets etc, i.e. finance does not have access (even via backdoor means) to personal information that mentors can have access to. We think there would be about 5 department worksheets and the main database worksheet. We would also like, if it is possible, for information to be taken from forms filled in via a Wix website (using one of their form creator apps), rather than having to manually input the information, this is not as important to us than the database itself.

Hello, I am Alex, working as data analyst in France. I'm an Excel/VBA expert, used to work on reporting, dashboards and Excel based tools. If I understand it right, you need multiple files, to have a secured database and some user-friendly tools for each department. I have worked on similar projects and it gives me some ideas. For the database itself, do you have MS Acces ? (The front user won't need it, but it can provide a more secure solution, if you want to be sure that each department can't access the "full" data. Excel cannot really provide this kind of restrictions). I can also look on a solution to get data from the Wix Website, but i will have some questions to find the right way to do it. I have developed multiple complicated spreadsheets over many years and as I'm still looking for my first job on this site I am eager to do a great job. I feel that there is still a little bit of work clarifying exactly what data needs to be seen where and so I have set up the project to run in two parts. First making sure we all agree on what data needs to appear where, and then a second step where I make it all interconnect. Given I have worked in Education for many years and have English as my first language I feel I would be a good candidate for this project.

From what the project seems to required I feel like there are other possibilities that should be explored specially since access to the data needs to be restricted. Excel is a great and powerful tool but for your needs there are newer cloud based solutions that will make your platform a lot more stable and scalable.

I have done it in my current role, where the Dashboard i.e. Main Sheet is updated based on the Sub sheets (Department wise). In terms of hiding the sheets and locking the structure i would need some more information.
