Cartoon Illustrations for Educational Book

I’m putting together an educational book that spans roughly two hundred pages and every spread needs a lively, engaging cartoon illustration to bring the content to life. The overall tone is playful-yet-informative rather than slapstick, so think bright colours, clean lines and expressive but relatable characters. Because the subject matter changes from chapter to chapter, I don’t need a recurring cast; a set of well-designed, generic characters that can be adapted (age, gender, outfits, props) will work perfectly. Here’s the flow I have in mind. I will share a finalised manuscript in batches. Each batch comes with notes on the concept, key learning point and any visual anchor (for instance a globe, microscope or chalkboard). You translate those notes into full-colour, print-ready cartoons sized for a standard 6 x 9 in. page with a 0.25 in. bleed. Layered PSD or AI files plus flattened high-resolution PNGs are the ideal formats so the layout team can slot them straight in. Deliverables • Rough pencil/line sketch for approval per page • Final coloured illustration (CMYK, 300 dpi, layered) • Small web-optimised version for the e-learning companion site Acceptance criteria • Style matches sample reference we’ll agree on during the first milestone • Characters remain consistent in proportion and palette across the book • All text that appears inside the artwork is editable I expect to review sketches daily and approve finals in weekly milestones, making feedback quick and painless.
