I need a seasoned Ruby engineer (around five years’ hands-on work) to help me build and continuously improve a production-grade web application running on Ruby on Rails. You will dive straight into an existing codebase, shape new features from scratch, and keep the current ones lean, secure, and well-tested. Day-to-day you’ll be pairing with me on feature planning, writing clean Ruby, refining ActiveRecord queries, introducing service objects where it makes sense, and pushing everything through Git-based workflows with peer reviews and CI. Solid knowledge of Rails conventions, background jobs, caching, and test-driven development is essential because we rely heavily on RSpec and Capybara for stability. I will give you clear tickets, Figma screens, and access to the staging environment; you’ll turn that into merge-ready PRs with passing tests and concise documentation. Deployment happens via Heroku, so experience there (or on a similar PaaS) will help you ramp up faster, but it’s not mandatory. Deliverables: • Feature branches merged to main with green CI • Comprehensive RSpec coverage for every new line of business logic • Brief changelog notes that make future maintenance easy If you thrive in a Rails stack and enjoy owning features end-to-end, let’s talk.

Diving into an existing Rails codebase to ship features end-to-end and keep the current ones lean is exactly the work I enjoy. I'd start by reading your models and specs to learn the domain, then take your tickets one at a time: feature branch, thin controllers, and service objects to keep business logic out of fat models where things get tangled. On the ActiveRecord side I hunt down N+1s with includes/preload, add the right indexes, and use counter caches plus fragment/low-level caching where reads are hot. Anything slow or external — emails, exports, third-party calls — moves into background jobs so requests stay fast. Every new line of business logic gets RSpec model and request specs, and I use Capybara for the critical user flows so the green CI you want actually means something. I turn Figma screens into clean views, open merge-ready PRs with peer-review-friendly diffs, and leave short changelog notes so future maintenance isn't guesswork. Heroku deploys are familiar to me — pipelines, review apps, and config vars — so I can ramp on staging quickly. One question to scope things right: are you already on Sidekiq or Resque for background jobs, or is introducing that part of the work? That decides how I structure the async and caching layers. Hi, I reviewed the project and the main requirement is to build and continuously improve a production-grade Ruby on Rails app by diving into an existing codebase, shaping new features from scratch, and keeping current ones lean, secure, and well-tested. I’ll apply Rails conventions, refine ActiveRecord queries, and introduce service objects where it makes sense. Deployment and collaboration will happen through Git-based workflows with CI, backed by RSpec and Capybara for stability, and Heroku for smooth production releases, aligning with Software Development standards. Quality, responsiveness, and clean, maintainable work define my approach, with easy management and clear documentation on every release. Let’s discuss here now.

Hi, as a senior developer with 20+ years of experience, including 5+ years deep in Ruby on Rails, I’ve built and scaled production systems in similar stacks, so this fits my core expertise. I’ll review the existing codebase first, then work in feature branches with RSpec and Capybara tests, refactor ActiveRecord queries, introduce service objects where needed, and keep the logic clean and maintainable. I’ll pair with you on ticket breakdowns, write concise changelog notes after each merge, and ensure every PR passes CI before deployment to Heroku. I can start immediately and provide a timeline after reviewing the staging setup.

Hi I understand you are looking for a hands-on Ruby on Rails engineer to dive into an existing production codebase, build features from clear tickets/Figma screens, and continuously improve stability, security, and test coverage with RSpec/Capybara, while keeping ActiveRecord queries lean and maintainable. I’m Justin, an AI and web developer who also specializes in building reliable application workflows. For Rails work, my focus is structured, convention-aligned development: translating requirements into small, reviewable changes; using service objects where they reduce complexity; and keeping background jobs, caching, and query behavior intentional so CI stays green. For this project, I’d start by pairing to map the current feature area, identify existing patterns (models/queries/jobs/services) and how CI runs, then implement the first ticket end-to-end: design Ruby changes, extend RSpec/Capybara tests for every new business rule, and produce a merge-ready PR with brief changelog notes. After that, I’d keep iterating on follow-on tickets while refining query performance, test reliability, and code organization. Best, Justin

Hi, this is a straightforward production web application engagement, and the part that matters is being able to enter an existing codebase without increasing entropy while still shipping clean feature work. The real engineering risk is not feature velocity by itself; it is preserving correctness as business logic, query complexity, background processing, and test coverage evolve together inside a live Rails application. I've built several production systems in that mode, where the work is less about greenfield coding and more about reading the current shape of the system, isolating change safely, and getting merge-ready work through CI with minimal regression risk. Your emphasis on Ruby on Rails, peer-reviewed PRs, and passing tests signals a process that values maintainability over churn. The closest match in my past work is Custom Feature Development & Integration, where I stepped into an existing product, reviewed the codebase, implemented targeted features, added automated test coverage, and delivered clean handoff documentation. I usually structure this kind of work by separating feature delivery from refactor pressure: map the domain boundary first, keep business rules explicit, tighten the highest-risk paths, and avoid broad rewrites unless a hotspot is clearly blocking future changes. That tends to produce systems that stay operable over time rather than just accumulating merged branches. If useful, Thanks, Hercules

Hi, I can take over the Rails work directly since you need someone who already knows the conventions and can move fast on new features and refactors. I’ve spent years building Rails apps from scratch and untangling legacy code—most recently I rebuilt an e-commerce backend where service objects cut our background job time in half. The app will stay clean and testable if we keep the logic in well-tested POROs and lean ActiveRecord queries; we’ll push small, reviewable PRs with full RSpec coverage so nothing breaks on Heroku. If anything feels risky, I’ll pair with you on the first ticket to lock in the approach before committing. This keeps the codebase stable and makes future changes cheaper for you. Happy to jump in and start right now. Thanks, Denis

Hi, Good Day, From your description, you're looking for more than just a Ruby on Rails developer—you need someone who can understand an existing codebase, build reliable features, and keep the application stable as it evolves. My approach would be to first understand the current architecture, workflows, and testing setup, then work on clean Rails implementations using best practices such as optimized ActiveRecord queries, service objects where needed, background jobs, caching, and strong test coverage with RSpec and Capybara. I can help deliver well-structured feature branches, reviewed-ready pull requests, clear documentation, and maintainable code that fits smoothly into your Git and CI workflow. I also understand the importance of production reliability when working with applications deployed through platforms like Heroku. I'd be happy to learn more about your current Rails version, application structure, and the type of features you plan to build next. Looking forward to discussing your project. M Adeel,

Jumping into an existing Rails app is usually less about writing new features and more about understanding the boundaries first, especially when every change needs green CI and solid RSpec coverage. I'd start by tracing the current flow, keeping new business logic out of controllers where it makes sense, and introducing service objects only when they reduce complexity rather than add another layer. For ActiveRecord work, I pay close attention to query behavior to avoid hidden N+1 issues while keeping the code readable. Each feature would come with focused RSpec examples and Capybara coverage where user flows are affected, so the PR is ready for review instead of needing another testing pass. One thing I'd like to know is whether the project already follows a consistent service object pattern, or if that's something you'd like to establish as we build new features. That will help keep future changes consistent across the codebase.
