Editing SCORM files using JAVASCRIPT

Job Description:

We run an educational platform. The platform built its courses using the SCORM standard.

We're looking for someone that can edit a SCORM file with JavaScript by adding a SCORM-compliant script to the root of the SCORM file. This script should then execute the JavaScript code within the SCORM file and make changes to the file as needed.

Your JavaScript code must be properly formatted and validated in order to ensure compatibility with the Learning Management System (LMS) that the SCORM file is intended for.

To get a bit of perspective, each lesson on our platform is divided into 5 events (5 SCORM FILES). First 3 events are usually video clips. Event 4 will be for exercises and event 5 will be for quizzes.

We have a feature on the platform that will allow the students to check their progress for each event. As by the time a student finishes an event, the event will show as “completed”.

The thing is, we don’t have an issue with the first 4 events, our issue is with Event 5 (The quiz). Because you see, the event should only appear as completed if the student pass the quiz, and must be shown as “incomplete” in case they didn’t.

“Articulate 360” which is the software we use to create SCORM files, don’t have a tool to make that adjustment, and as such we need to edit the SCORM file externally.

As for issue #2

Once the student submits all his answers in Event 5, his score (a variable) should be sent to the platform to be reflected on the student’s weekly report. We don’t have a tool for that either on “Articulate 360”, as the score only appears in the event but doesn’t get passed onto the platform.

NOTE: To ensure compatibility with our Learning Management System (LMS), we will get you in touch with one of the developers for the platform. They should explain their requirements to you.
