The ND Forest Service approached us about a year ago about producing an exhibit that would demonstrate the value of planting shelter belts to mitigate wind erosion. There are some physical exhibits out there that demonstrate the effect of wind on a landscape. They are call Aeolian landscape chambers. They consist of a sealed chamber that has fine sand inside and fans that can be directed from the outside. The problem that we run into is that the forest service wants to demonstrate how trees can change the effects of wind erosion on a landscape. Sand is abrasive so any props that you would place inside the chamber would be need to be changed out fairly often and the chamber is supposed to be sealed to keep the sand inside so guests could not really make any changes to prop placement even though they could change the direction of the wind. (not the point) The other issue that we have is that the effects of wind on the sand needs to be observed over more than a few minutes and most of our guests do not have that kind of attention span. So, an alternative would be a touch screen interactive that would allow guests to place trees in a landscape, let a simulated wind blow through and see the results in a shorter period of time. The goals of this exercise would be to challenge guests to place trees strategically to protect fields and structures from erosion and to help them understand the importance of planting and maintaining shelter belts.

Hi. I have seen your job posting for touch screen interactive game/app for Museum work.
