Material Engineer Corrosion Engineering (UK / EU based)

Material Engineer Required – Material Compatibility & Corrosion Control Seeking an experienced Materials Engineer / Corrosion Engineer to support the material selection and corrosion assessment of gas-liquid separation equipment operating in demanding process environments. The successful freelancer will provide engineering support for material compatibility, corrosion control strategies, and recommendations for pressure vessels and separator internals exposed to chemically aggressive process fluids. The engineer will review material compatibility for equipment exposed to one or more of the following process media: * Wet CO₂ * Hot water * Amine-based solvents * Alkaline solvents * Potassium carbonate solutions * Solvent promoters and additives * Solvent degradation products * Cleaning chemicals * Process condensate * Trace contaminants The assessment will include recommendations for: * Pressure vessel shells and heads * Nozzles * Separator internals * Inlet devices * Demister pads * Gaskets * Fasteners and bolting * Instrument connections * Process piping * Flanges and associated wetted components Deliverables The selected engineer should be able to provide: * Material compatibility review for all wetted components * Corrosion risk assessment * Material selection recommendations * Corrosion allowance recommendations where applicable * Protective coating or lining recommendations * Guidance on suitable stainless steels, carbon steels, duplex stainless steels, nickel alloys, or other specialist materials where justified
