We are developing next-generation AI-driven smart exercise machines designed for home users, commercial gyms, and rehabilitation settings. This is a hands-on LEAD engineering role to design and deliver a working physical prototype within 6 months. The system combines mechanical resistance, embedded sensors, and AI-assisted movement analysis to provide safe, adaptive, and personalised training and rehab support. This is not a research project and not a software-only role. We are looking for an engineer who has personally built real hardware and understands human-interactive safety-critical systems. Scope of Work You will act as the Lead Mechatronics Engineer, owning the physical system end-to-end. Key responsibilities include: -Define overall system architecture (mechanics, sensors, control boundaries) -Design or oversee mechanical and mechatronic components -Select and integrate sensors (force, position, motion, load, etc.) -Design and enforce hard safety limits (AI must never override physics) -Build and iterate on a functional prototype -Support data capture for AI development (AI engineer engaged separately) -Ensure the system is realistic for future manufacturing -AI is assistive, not autonomous. Safety, reliability, and repeatability come before features. What Success Looks Like: By the end of the engagement: -A working physical machine exists -Manual operation mode functions safely and reliably -Sensors produce consistent, usable movement and force data -AI provides basic real-time feedback (form, range, tempo) -Physical safety systems are validated -The prototype is demo-ready for gyms, clinics, and investors Required Experience (Please Read Carefully) Must have: -Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering background -Proven experience taking physical products from concept to prototype -Experience with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems -Strong safety-first mindset for human-interactive equipment -Comfortable working in early-stage, iterative builds Highly preferred: -Medical device, rehab equipment, robotics, or industrial automation experience -Experience collaborating with AI / ML engineers -Startup or prototype-to-manufacture exposure What This Is NOT ❌ Not an academic or research role ❌ Not a pure CAD or design-only job ❌ Not an AI-only role ❌ Not a “spec it and disappear” contract We are looking for an engineer who ships. Engagement Details: -Duration: 6 months -Commitment: ~8–16 hours per week -Location: Remote acceptable (prototype coordination required) Start: Immediate -NDA required before detailed disclosure -All IP remains with the company/founder To Apply (Important) Please answer these three questions in your application: -What physical product have you personally taken from idea to working prototype? -How do you approach safety in machines that physically interact with people? -What would you not allow AI to control in a rehab-adjacent exercise device? Applications without answers to these questions will not be considered.

Hi, I’m applying for the Lead Mechatronics Engineer role. I have a Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering background and hands-on experience taking real hardware from concept to working prototype — including human-interactive systems with sensors, actuators, and embedded control. My approach prioritizes mechanical + hardware safety first. AI is assistive only — never allowed to control force, speed, motion limits, or safety functions. Here are my answers to your questions: Product I built from idea to prototype: I’ve designed and built functional hardware systems end-to-end, including mechanically-loaded, human-interactive and robotic/mechatronic prototypes with full sensor + control integration. Safety approach: Safety is never software-dependent. I use mechanical hard-stops, torque/force limiting, watchdogs, safety relays, conservative limits, and fail-passive defaults so the machine remains safe even during faults. What AI must NOT control: AI must not directly control motion, torque, speed, shutdown logic, or raise force limits. The duration, weekly commitment, NDA, and IP terms all work for me. I’d be excited to help deliver a safe, reliable, demo-ready prototype. Best regards, Mahmoud

Innovation and quality are at the forefront of my work as an electronic hardware and firmware engineer. I'm very interested in the opportunity to join your team as a Lead Mechatronics Engineer for this project. I have a proven track record of taking physical products from concept to prototype, ensuring safety, reliability, and repeatability along the way. Additionally, my expertise in designing PCBs for embedded systems and understanding of control boundaries make me an ideal candidate for the system architecture aspect of this role. Safety is my top priority, particularly when it comes to machines that interact with people. I employ a safety-first mindset, and this can be seen in my meticulous design of boards for motor control, use-relevant communication protocols like UART and MODBUS, and implementation of wireless technologies like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth which have always been driven by maintaining user safety. In terms of AI's role for a rehab-adjacent exercise device such as this one, I strongly believe AI may assist but should never override physics. AI must be programmed to provide real-time feedback on form, range, tempo among others without causing physical harm or challenges to the users' natural movement patterns. I look forward to bringing these skillsets, experience, and mindset to bear on this project to deliver a working physical prototype at a detailed engagement level from specs through iteration to validation.

Hello, how are you? I am applying for the Lead Mechatronics Engineer role because this project aligns exactly with what I do best: shipping real, human-interactive hardware safely and reliably. 1. Physical product delivered end-to-end I have personally taken multiple electromechanical systems from concept to working prototype, including sensor-integrated devices with force, motion, and position feedback. 2. Safety approach for human-interactive machines I design safety as a hard, layered system, not a software feature. This includes mechanical hard-stops, torque/force limiting, redundant sensing, watchdogs, and fail-safe states. Manual mode must always be safe and functional, independent of AI or high-level software. AI never bypasses physics. 3. What AI must NOT control AI must not control maximum force, absolute position limits, emergency stop behavior, or fault recovery logic. These remain deterministic, verifiable, and enforced at the hardware/firmware level. AI is strictly assistive—analysis, feedback, and adaptation within predefined safe envelopes. I am comfortable working in early-stage, fast-iteration environments and coordinating remotely while ensuring the prototype is manufacturable, demo-ready, and trustworthy for gyms, clinics, and investors. I ship hardware. NDA-ready and available to start immediately.

I am a manufacturing and industrial engineer who has personally taken huma -interactive machines from blank page to working physical prototypes, including resistance-based exercise and sensor-driven equipment. I lead end-to-end system architecture mechanics, actuation, sensing, controls, and safety prioritising hard physical limits, redundant sensing, and fail-safe manual modes so AI can assist but never override physics. My approach separates safety-critical control loops from software intelligence, with mechanical stops, torque/force caps, watchdogs, and validated emergency states. I am hands-on: selecting actuators and sensors, building and iterating prototypes, validating repeatability, and preparing designs that can realistically transition to manufacture. I work comfortably with AI/ML engineers by delivering clean, reliable data while retaining deterministic control of the machine. I ship hardware, iterate fast, and can deliver a demo-ready, safety-validated prototype within six months under NDA.

Hello, ?Felice? I’ve reviewed the role and requirements carefully and am confident I can contribute as a hands-on Lead Mechatronics Engineer. ❓ What physical product have you personally taken from idea to working prototype? ✅ I led a motorized, sensor-based fitness device from concept to a working prototype, completing three physical iterations with load cells, encoders, and real user testing. ❓ How do you approach safety in machines that physically interact with people? ✅ I use layered safety—mechanical hard stops and torque limits first, followed by electrical protection, deterministic control logic, and fail-safe shutdowns that always default to reduced force. ❓ What would you not allow AI to control in a rehab-adjacent exercise device? ✅ I would never allow AI to control force limits, emergency stops, calibration, or any real-time safety-critical behavior. I focus on building predictable, testable, and manufacturable systems rather than over-engineered ones. I can own the full mechatronics stack through prototyping, validation, and refinement. My rate is competitive for a lead-level role and flexible based on scope and milestones.
