Can you Help Us in a COVID-19 Research Project?. Desperately Calling to All Bright & Brave Engineers and Software Developers Ready to Face a Challenge (March 14, 2020) For an international, ongoing medical research project that needs to assess cough passively and continuously in susceptible COVID-19 hospital participants, and its determinants in real-time, we have a PROBLEM: Could you think how to synchronize these two devices?: • A cough sensor, such as the Leicester cough monitor (LCM) or VitaloJak1 • The gyroscope of a wristband biosensor such as Fitbit2 (or other) We need you help to develop an algorithm to link the coughing sound (and sneezing) by a cough monitor, with the gyroscope in the wristband of hospital staff participating in a research study, and automatically identify and register if your hand (bad) or your forearm (good) covers your mouth, and how many times per day.
