Job Title Field Expert – Artisan Research & Documentation (Local Field Associate / Craft Field Expert) Location Chhattisgarh (Bastar, Champa, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Ratanpur & nearby craft clusters) Travel to villages and artisan homes is essential. About Shilpparichay Shilpparichay is a craft-documentation and artisan-led platform dedicated to discovering, preserving and presenting the soul of Chhattisgarh’s crafts. We work directly with artisans to document their stories, processes and products with honesty, respect and transparency. Role Overview The Field Expert will act as Shilpparichay’s on-ground representative, responsible for identifying artisans, documenting their craft, collecting authentic information, and building long-term trust between artisans and the brand. This role is field-intensive and ideal for someone who understands local culture, speaks the local language, and enjoys interacting with artisans. Key Responsibilities 1. Artisan Identification & Verification Identify genuine artisans and craft clusters (bamboo, terracotta, kosa silk, metal, wood, tribal art, etc.) Verify authenticity of craft, handmade process and artisan background Maintain a basic artisan database (name, village, craft type, experience) 2. Craft & Process Documentation Document step-by-step craft processes (raw material to finished product) Capture photos and short videos using a mobile phone Record artisan interviews (story, family history, challenges, pricing logic) 3. Product Information Collection List products made by the artisan with size, usage and price range Note production capacity, time required and customization possibilities Collect details of raw material sourcing and seasonality 4. Content Support for Shilpparichay Provide raw content for blogs, reels and YouTube videos Share local insights, cultural stories and craft significance Ensure information is truthful and not exaggerated 5. Relationship & Trust Building Explain Shilpparichay’s purpose clearly to artisans Ensure artisans feel respected, not exploited Act as a long-term local point of contact 6. Reporting & Coordination Submit visit reports after each field visit Share photos, videos and notes digitally (WhatsApp/Google Drive) Coordinate with Shilpparichay’s central team for next steps Required Skills & Qualities Mandatory Resident of Chhattisgarh or strong familiarity with local regions Comfortable speaking Hindi (local dialect knowledge preferred) Willingness to travel to remote villages Smartphone with good camera & internet access Basic ability to write or record information clearly Preferred Background in handicrafts, NGOs, rural development or tourism Experience working with artisans or self-help groups Understanding of bamboo, terracotta, handloom or tribal arts Honest, patient and culturally sensitive approach Personality Traits We Value Respect for artisans and their traditions Curiosity and attention to detail Strong listening skills Integrity and transparency Long-term thinking (not just transactional) Compensation Structure (Indicative) (Can be customised) Per village visit: ₹500 – ₹800 Performance-based incentives for quality documentation Travel expenses reimbursed (as per policy)
