Requirements overview
The high level features for VMS are listed as below:
a. The System shall be based on a platform Independent high level programming language and open software architecture so that it can communicate with various heterogeneous application in existence, being planned or likely to setup in the future with other agencies. System shall handle data integrity and consistency for the fast query retrieval.
b. The system architecture shall be scalable and shall be integrable with other major existing or expected systems for the client. The video management system shall include a federated architecture, allowing clients on the host system with the appropriate user rights to view video sources belonging to multiple independent video management systems simultaneously as if they were on the same system.
c. Support IP network cameras and other hardware as mentioned in the detailed technical section of this RFP.
d. System should be highly available and secure system.
e. Support Pan/Tilt/Zoom cameras, extensible to add new control protocols.
f. Built on standard languages like, C/C++, Perl , PHP, Java
g. Use high performance MySQL database.
h. High performance independent video capture and analysis daemons allowing high failure redundancy.
i. Large number of configuration options allowing maximum performance on any hardware.
j. User friendly web/client software interface allowing full control of system or cameras as well as live views and event replays.
k. Support live video in mpeg video, multi-part jpeg and stills formats.
l. Support event replay in mpeg video, multi-part jpeg, stills formats, along with statistics detail.
m. User defined filters allowing selection of any number of events by combination of characteristics in any order.
n. Event notification by email or SMS including attached still images or video of specific events by filter.
o. Automatic uploading of matching events to external FTP storage for archiving and data security.
p. Includes bi-directional X.10 (home automation protocol) integration allowing X.10 signals to control when video is captured and for motion detection to trigger X.10 devices.
q. Highly partitioned design shall allow other hardware interfacing protocols to be added easily for support of alarm panels etc.
r. Multiple users and user access levels. Multi-language support Full control script support allowing most tasks to be automated or added to other applications.
s. Support external triggering by 3rd party applications or equipment.
t. xHTML mobile/cellular phone access allowing access to common functions. Should support 2.24i Phone/mobile interface.
u. The system shall be based on a platform independent high level programming language and open software architecture so that it can communicate with various heterogeneous applications in existence, being planned or likely to be set up in the future with other agencies. The system shall handle data integrity and consistency for fast query retrieval. All information shall be shared across all users. Software shall be capable of synchronizing data across various applications.
