Detecting duplicates/similar images on our server

Kindly advise us about the formats images are in (png, gif, jpg, tiff etc). May be the script would make the images transparent and resize before comparing using image magic. Here is my way of implementing it, we need to check the image size of two images then based on small image size we need to crop the large image to make it of same size. Then we need to check each pixcel if it is same. This is a guaranteed mechanism to compare two files. However note that in case of cropping only images cropped on right bottom size can be compared otherwise there is no way to compare them. Exact match is a few hours task.. but here you are asking for resized images too.. which will need some C code to go in the middle. Two days task.. and cropped is the hardest; will need using discreet transformation.. a week of work maybe. You can depend on me anyway. Lets say the following in euros: 100: exact match 300: for resized images match. 700: cropped. What do you think? I am very open to discuss this. Best Regards.
