Hi, I have worked (and have) on a project which is very similar to what you want to have. It's a system where both teacher and student can signup as either a teacher or student. The teacher can create a course/class and then add in assignments and tests for students. The students then enrolled in particular class created by the teacher and submit assignments. I can refine it as per your needs and can also you a demo of existing one. It's built on laravel with a nice and easy to use interface.
