We're looking for a hands-on fractional Chief Product Officer to own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap across two products: Layerline ([login to view URL]), a global 3D printing marketplace, and our custom e-commerce platform in development (think: vertical Shopify for 3D printing). You're the person who decides what gets built, why, and in what order. Freelancers only — no agencies. Flexible, ongoing engagement with potential to grow into a full-time role and long-term partnership. --- ABOUT US • Multiple ventures — ecosystem infrastructure (B2B SaaS), e-commerce (3D printing marketplace), technology solutions, startup ecosystem coordination • Layerline ([login to view URL]) — global 3D printing marketplace, selling printers, filament & accessories worldwide • Custom e-commerce platform in development — a vertical Shopify alternative for 3D printing, potential standalone SaaS product • Based in the Netherlands with a US entity, operating globally • Distributed teams across developing countries (Egypt, India, and others) --- WHAT WE NEED Product Strategy & Vision • Defining the product vision and long-term roadmap for both Layerline and the custom platform • Aligning product decisions with business goals and revenue targets • Identifying market opportunities — what to build, what to skip • Competitive analysis — understanding what other marketplaces and e-commerce platforms do well (and poorly) • Positioning our custom platform as a standalone SaaS product Product Roadmap & Prioritization • Owning and maintaining the product roadmap across both products • Prioritizing features based on user impact, business value, and development effort • Balancing short-term wins with long-term product bets • Sprint planning and feature scoping in collaboration with the tech team • Managing stakeholder expectations and trade-offs User Research & Discovery • Understanding our users — hobbyist makers, prosumers, small and medium-sized businesses • Conducting user research, interviews, and feedback analysis • Translating customer pain points into product opportunities • Data-driven product decisions — analyzing user behavior, funnel data, and usage patterns • Building feedback loops between customer success, sales, and product Product Design & UX • Defining user flows, wireframes, and feature specifications • Ensuring a great user experience across the marketplace (search, product pages, checkout, account) • UX optimization — reducing friction, improving conversion, increasing engagement • Working with designers and developers to bring features to life Product Execution • Working closely with the CTO/tech team to ship features on time and at quality • Writing clear product requirements and acceptance criteria • QA mindset — testing, iterating, and improving post-launch • Setting up product analytics and tracking (what's working, what's not) • Building a culture of rapid experimentation and learning Platform Product Management • Shaping the custom e-commerce platform into a sellable SaaS product • Defining core vs. optional features, pricing tiers, and target customers • Understanding the competitive landscape (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, etc.) • Platform scalability — building for multi-tenant, multi-market usage --- WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR • 7+ years experience in product management, with at least 3 in a senior/lead role • Proven experience building and scaling e-commerce or marketplace products • Strong product sense — you know what makes a great user experience • Data-driven — you use analytics to inform decisions, not just gut feeling • Technical enough to work closely with developers and understand trade-offs • Excellent communicator — can align tech, business, and design around a shared vision • Self-starter who takes full ownership of the product Bonus: • Experience building SaaS/platform products • Familiarity with the 3D printing or maker community • Experience with AI-powered product features • Background in UX design or user research • Vibe coding mindset — can prototype ideas quickly using AI tools • Previous experience at a startup or scale-up • International e-commerce experience (EU/US/global) --- HOW WE WORK • Remote, flexible hours • Full ownership of the product — you drive what gets built • Direct collaboration with the founder and tech team • Long-term relationship with the right person --- TO APPLY 1.
