# Backend Developer / Team Needed – BlessDriving Driving School Management Platform We are looking for an experienced backend developer or development team to build the backend for **BlessDriving**, a driving school management and scheduling platform. This is a new product domain, but it does **not need to be built completely from zero**. We already have a mature backend for another platform, **BlessShipping**, built with FastAPI and related infrastructure. The selected developer may reuse, adapt, or fork appropriate technical components from the existing BlessShipping backend where this reduces development time and cost. BlessDriving should remain a **separate backend and separate business domain**, but we want to reuse as much proven infrastructure as reasonably possible. --- # Existing BlessShipping Backend – Reusable Foundation The existing BlessShipping backend already includes mature implementations or patterns for: * FastAPI project structure * PostgreSQL * Redis * Docker / Docker Compose * JWT authentication * Refresh tokens * Role-based access control (RBAC) * User management * Admin roles * Audit logs * API logging * Error handling * API conventions * Background jobs/workers * Notifications * File/object storage * MinIO * Realtime/event architecture * OpenAPI documentation * Testing structure * Deployment configuration * General backend CRUD patterns * Status/state-machine patterns * Availability/assignment concepts * Driver/vehicle assignment concepts * Geographic data / PostGIS * Maps-related backend infrastructure The new team should review the existing codebase first and identify what can be reused directly, what can be adapted, and what must be newly developed. We specifically want to avoid rebuilding generic backend infrastructure that is already working. --- # BlessDriving Core Product BlessDriving will be an independent driving school management platform. It needs to manage: * Students * Instructors * Instructor languages * Vehicles * Courses * Theory classes * Practical driving lessons * Automatic scheduling * Student progress * Tuition * Student payments * Instructor earnings * Instructor payment calculations * Administrative operations ERP integration is not required for the first version. The system must operate independently. --- # Main User Roles The backend should support at least: ## Admin Full system control. ## Scheduler / Operations Staff Manage schedules, instructors, vehicles and assignments. ## Instructor Manage availability, view lessons, complete lessons, record student progress and view earnings. ## Student View course progress, book lessons, manage schedule, view payments and receive notifications. --- # 1. Student Management Student profiles should support: * Full name * Contact information * Address * Preferred language * Secondary acceptable language * Course enrollment * Training progress * Payment status * Outstanding balance * Preferred instructor * Default pickup location * Notes --- # 2. Instructor Management Instructor profiles should support: * Full name * Contact information * Active/inactive status * Instructor qualification * Theory teaching eligibility * Practical teaching eligibility * Languages spoken * Primary language * Service area * Availability * Maximum working hours * Pay structure * Pay rates Instructor language must be a structured scheduling attribute. Example: Instructor A: * English * French * Mandarin Instructor B: * English * French Instructor C: * French * Arabic --- # 3. Language Matching Student profiles should include: * Required lesson language * Preferred language * Secondary acceptable language Automatic scheduling must use instructor language when selecting instructors. Example: Student prefers Mandarin but accepts English. The scheduling engine should prioritize Mandarin-speaking instructors first. --- # 4. Vehicle Management Vehicle records should support: * Vehicle ID * Make * Model * Year * Plate * Transmission * Active status * Inspection status * Maintenance status * Availability * Notes Vehicles must not be double-booked. --- # 5. Course Management Admin should be able to create configurable driving school programs. A course may contain: * Theory modules * Practical lessons * Evaluations * Other training activities Each module should support: * Sequence * Type * Duration * Prerequisites * Required/optional status * Completion rules Course structure should not be hard-coded. --- # 6. Student Enrollment Enrollment should track: * Student * Course * Start date * Course price * Discounts * Taxes * Tuition total * Payments * Outstanding balance * Training progress * Enrollment status Possible statuses: * Pending * Active * Suspended * Completed * Cancelled --- # 7. Theory Class Scheduling Theory classes are group sessions. A theory session may include: * One instructor * Multiple students * Specific module * Specific language * Date/time * Capacity * Classroom or online location Students should be able to reserve available seats. The backend should check: * Enrollment * Prerequisites * Capacity * Student schedule conflicts * Language eligibility --- # 8. Practical Driving Lesson Booking Practical lessons normally require: * One student * One instructor * One vehicle * One time slot * Lesson language * Pickup location Before confirming the lesson, the backend must validate availability of all required resources. --- # 9. Automatic Scheduling Engine Automatic scheduling is one of the most important parts of this project. The scheduling engine should automatically match: **Student + Instructor + Vehicle + Language + Time + Course Requirement** The student should normally choose an available time slot, while the backend determines the best instructor and vehicle assignment. --- # 10. Hard Scheduling Constraints Automatic assignment must reject invalid combinations when: * Instructor is unavailable * Instructor already has another lesson * Vehicle is unavailable * Vehicle already has another lesson * Student has another lesson * Required instructor qualification is missing * Required language is unavailable * Vehicle is under maintenance * Instructor is inactive * Vehicle is inactive * Student prerequisite is incomplete * Instructor exceeds configured working-hour limits * Lesson falls outside school operating hours These rules must be enforced in the backend. Frontend validation alone is not sufficient. --- # 11. Scheduling Preferences / Scoring After hard constraints are satisfied, valid candidates should be ranked. Possible scoring factors include: * Exact language match * Preferred language * Preferred instructor * Previous instructor continuity * Instructor workload * Service area * Vehicle availability * Avoiding large schedule gaps * Pickup-location efficiency Example scoring concept: Exact language match: +50 Preferred instructor: +30 Previous instructor: +20 Lower workload: +10 Same service area: +10 Large schedule gap: -10 Extra travel: -20 The exact scoring model can be improved by the selected developer. --- # 12. Scheduling Modes The system should support: ## Fully Automatic System automatically assigns instructor and vehicle. ## Semi-Automatic System recommends the best instructor/vehicle combination and Scheduler approves it. ## Manual Scheduler manually assigns resources. For initial operations, semi-automatic scheduling may be used first while the automatic logic is validated. --- # 13. Instructor Availability Support: * Weekly recurring availability * One-time availability * Vacation * Sick leave * Breaks * Personal blocked time * Training * Administrative work Availability must be considered by the scheduling engine. --- # 14. Vehicle Availability Vehicles need their own availability calendar. The backend must prevent overlapping reservations. Concurrency must be handled correctly. If two students attempt to book the last available instructor or vehicle at the same time, double-booking must not occur. --- # 15. Lesson Buffer Time The system should support configurable buffer time between practical lessons. Example: Lesson: 10:00–11:00 Buffer: 15 minutes Next possible lesson: 11:15 --- # 16. Cancellation / Rescheduling Support: * Cancellation * Rescheduling * No-show * Late cancellation * Cancellation fees * Fee waivers * Cancellation reasons Historical records should be retained. Lessons should not simply be permanently deleted. --- # 17. Attendance Attendance statuses may include: * Present * Late * Absent * Excused * Instructor Cancelled * School Cancelled Attendance may affect course completion. --- # 18. Lesson Completion & Instructor Reports After a practical lesson, the instructor should be able to record: * Attendance * Lesson completion * Topics covered * Student performance * Areas needing improvement * Instructor notes * Recommendation for next lesson Lesson completion should automatically update student progress. --- # 19. Student Progress The backend should calculate: * Theory modules completed * Theory modules remaining * Practical lessons completed * Practical lessons remaining * Overall course progress * Upcoming lessons --- # 20. Tuition Calculation BlessDriving should independently calculate student tuition. ERP is not required. Pricing should support: * Course base price * Registration fees * Theory fees * Practical lesson fees * Additional lesson fees * Discounts * Promotions * Taxes * Credits * Refunds * Adjustments Prices must be configurable. Existing enrollment pricing should be preserved even if future course prices change. ---

⭕⭕FASTAPI BACKEND ARCHITECTURE EXPERT⭕⭕ Hi there, ✔️ Based on your requirements, this is exactly the type of project where leveraging the existing BlessShipping backend will significantly reduce development time while maintaining a clean separation between the shipping and driving-school domains. I can help analyze the current codebase, identify reusable modules, and build BlessDriving on a proven FastAPI foundation rather than reinventing existing infrastructure. ✍️ Will access to the existing BlessShipping repository be provided during the discovery phase for reuse analysis? ✍️ Do you already have a preferred payment provider for tuition and instructor payout tracking? Recommended Development Approach: • Phase 1: Existing Backend Audit & Reuse Analysis • Phase 2: Core Domain Models & Business Logic • Phase 3: Scheduling Engine & Resource Allocation • Phase 4: Tuition, Payments & Progress Tracking • Phase 5: Testing, Optimization & Deployment • Phase 6: Documentation & Handover ➰ I’d be happy to review the existing codebase and provide a detailed reuse strategy, architecture proposal, development milestones, and realistic timeline before implementation begins. Thank you.

Your brief is very well thought out, and I like that you already have BlessShipping as a proven FastAPI foundation to reuse. I can review the existing backend first, identify what should be reused vs rebuilt, and then structure BlessDriving as a separate domain with clean scheduling, RBAC, payments, progress tracking, and concurrency-safe booking logic. The automatic/semi-automatic scheduling piece is the key part here, and I’d approach that carefully so the hard constraints are enforced properly in the backend. Happy to discuss the first delivery phase through the platform.

Hi — Elias here from Miami. I see you’re building a management platform for driving schools, aiming to streamline operations and enhance user experience. This project has the potential to improve efficiency in a traditionally complex environment. What usually matters most here is ensuring the system can handle multiple user roles and permissions fluidly. A common issue in such systems is the complexity of integrating various workflows, especially with real-time data and automated notifications. The tricky part is ensuring that as user demand grows, the platform remains reliable and scalable. My approach would involve designing a modular architecture that prioritizes maintainability and clear separation of concerns. Using PHP and PostgreSQL, I would ensure the backend can handle expected traffic while being flexible for future enhancements. I’ve worked on similar platforms that required intricate user management and integration with external APIs. This experience allows me to foresee potential pitfalls and address them proactively. A few questions to better understand the scope: Q1 – What specific user roles and permissions are you envisioning? Q2 – Are there any third-party integrations we should prioritize? Q3 – What are your expectations for scaling in the first 1-2 years? Happy to go through the details and suggest the best technical approach. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I have 15+ years of experience building scalable backend platforms using FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, JWT, RBAC, REST APIs, and scheduling systems. Your plan to reuse the existing BlessShipping backend is exactly how I would approach this project to save both time and cost while keeping BlessDriving as a separate, maintainable product. I'll begin by auditing the current codebase to identify reusable modules such as authentication, RBAC, logging, notifications, background jobs, API conventions, and PostGIS. From there, I'll implement the driving school domain, including student, instructor, vehicle, course, enrollment, scheduling, payments, and progress tracking. The scheduling engine will be built around strict backend validation with support for language matching, instructor/vehicle availability, configurable scoring, conflict detection, buffer times, and concurrency protection to prevent double bookings. The code will be modular, well-documented, thoroughly tested, Docker-ready, and delivered through GitHub with API documentation and deployment support. I'm available to start immediately and would be happy to discuss the existing BlessShipping architecture before finalizing milestones and timelines. Best regards, Yasir Shah

BlessDriving looks like a serious product, not just a small CRUD app, and the fact that you already have mature FastAPI infrastructure is a big advantage. I can help audit the BlessShipping codebase, reuse the stable components, and build the new backend as an independent business domain with students, instructors, vehicles, enrollments, scheduling modes, and lesson completion flows. I’m also mindful of the double-booking/concurrency risk in booking systems, so that part would be handled at backend level rather than relying on frontend checks. I’d be glad to take this forward here on the platform.

Built school and fleet management systems and have solid FastAPI experience — forking from your BlessShipping backend is exactly the right approach to cut risk and cost. How I'd approach this: Foundation audit: Review BlessShipping's core modules (auth, scheduling, notifications, user roles, API structure) to identify what transfers directly to the driving school domain vs. what needs domain-specific rework. Domain model for BlessDriving: Students, instructors, vehicles, lesson slots, test bookings, progress tracking, payment/invoicing. Each entity mapped to FastAPI routers and Pydantic schemas in a separate database schema from BlessShipping. Reuse strategy: Infrastructure (auth middleware, logging, background tasks, email/SMS notifications, CI/CD) forked directly. Business logic rewritten for driving school workflows. Separate deployment — no shared runtime with BlessShipping. Key modules: - Lesson scheduling with instructor/vehicle availability logic - Student progress and test readiness tracking - Admin API (roster, utilisation, revenue summary) - Notification triggers (reminders, cancellations, pass/fail results) Sample work: SchoolPro — a school management system with scheduling, attendance tracking, and instructor management. Hello, I can handle the core backend, including student/instructor/vehicle management, configurable courses, payments, progress tracking, notifications, and especially the scheduling engine. The important part will be enforcing availability, language, qualifications, working-hour limits and concurrency at the backend level so double bookings cannot occur. I’d first review the BlessShipping codebase and identify what can safely be reused before estimating the new modules. I can also structure the scheduling logic with hard constraints plus a scoring system so it can evolve from semi-automatic to fully automatic scheduling. I’d be happy to review the existing backend and provide a phased estimate. Thanks

Hi there, My approach would be to first audit the existing BlessShipping backend to identify reusable components, then build the new domain models and APIs around FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker, followed by the scheduling engine with constraint validation and scoring logic, ensuring the platform remains modular, scalable, and easy to extend with future features. I have experience developing scalable FastAPI backends, REST APIs, PostgreSQL databases, RBAC systems, scheduling logic, Docker-based deployments, and well-documented backend architectures with a strong focus on maintainability and performance. Before we proceed, I just have a couple of quick questions: Approximately what percentage of the BlessShipping backend do you expect to be reusable for this project? Will you be providing the existing codebase and API documentation before development begins? There are also a few recommendations I'd like to share regarding the scheduling engine, concurrency handling, reusable architecture, and long-term scalability. Unfortunately, Freelancer.com's character limit doesn't allow me to include everything here, so please open a chat, and I'd be happy to discuss your project in more detail.

BlessDriving's toughest piece is the automatic scheduling engine, so that's where I'd focus. Since your BlessShipping backend already has FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, RBAC, audit logs and PostGIS, I'd first audit that code to fork auth, user management, MinIO storage and background workers directly, then build the driving-domain models on top so BlessDriving stays a separate backend. Matching would run in two passes: hard constraints first (instructor/vehicle/student conflicts, missing qualification, maintenance, working-hour limits, operating hours) to reject invalid combos, then a weighted scoring pass ranking valid candidates on exact language match, preferred/previous instructor, workload and travel. Language becomes a structured attribute, so a Mandarin-preferring student who also accepts English is offered Mandarin instructors first. Double-booking is stopped with row-level locking on the vehicle and instructor slot inside the booking transaction, plus configurable buffer time between lessons. I'd also snapshot enrollment pricing so existing tuition stays fixed when future course prices change. Would you like us to launch with semi-automatic scheduling (scheduler approves the suggested match) first, before switching on fully automatic? Muhammad Saad

Hey there, Building BlessDriving efficiently means reusing the proven FastAPI infrastructure from BlessShipping while keeping scheduling and driving school logic as an independent domain. I'll start by auditing the existing backend to identify reusable modules, then focus development on the scheduling engine where language matching, concurrency control, buffer times, and resource allocation become the real complexity rather than CRUD endpoints. I have built FastAPI and PostgreSQL backends with RBAC, JWT, background workers and transactional business rules, emphasizing clean architecture and thorough testing for race conditions like double-booking. The scheduling engine will enforce hard constraints first, then apply configurable scoring so the logic can evolve without major rewrites. Will I have access to the BlessShipping repository during the planning phase so the reuse assessment can be completed first? Looking forward to collaborating with you. Hi, A scheduling engine only becomes reliable when every business rule is enforced consistently. Reusing proven infrastructure is valuable, but the real design challenge is separating reusable platform components from driving-school-specific scheduling logic so future rule changes don’t require rewriting the backend. • Audit the BlessShipping backend before writing new modules • Isolate reusable infrastructure from BlessDriving domain logic • Model scheduling rules as configurable business policies • Enforce concurrency to eliminate double bookings • Validate progress, pricing, and scheduling entirely in the backend • Design for incremental automation from semi-automatic to fully automatic scheduling Question: Will the scheduling engine eventually become the system of record for all instructor assignments, or must it coexist with manual scheduling processes or external calendar systems during the transition?
