CRITICAL PROJECT REQUIREMENTS (PLEASE READ) Solo Developer Only: I am seeking an individual, solo technical artist. If you are an agency, middleman, or team, please do not apply. I require direct coding and communication from the individual who will be performing the work. Mandatory Asset Vetting: Attached to this project are two screenshots showing the Blender scene for the Genesis 8 base rig and the target MetaHuman reference skeleton. You must review these images before applying to confirm the rig structure is standard and that you are confident in your ability to handle this specific skeletal hierarchy. You must confirm your review of these images in your proposal. Project Overview I am looking for a Technical Artist or Python Developer experienced with the Blender 5.1 API (bpy) to write a standalone utility script. The script must fully automate the alignment of a Daz Genesis 8 / 8.1 skeleton to the Unreal Engine 5.8 MetaHuman relaxed bind pose. Based on the required logic and standard bone mapping data, this is a task for someone familiar with the Blender API and rigging 3D coordinate math. Technical Requirements The script must run directly from the Blender Text Editor and execute the following sequence: Bone Alignment: Map the Genesis 8/8.1 hierarchy and apply specific rotation offsets to match the UE5 MetaHuman bind pose (covering spine, shoulders, arms, legs, feet, and precise per-joint finger curls). Crucially, the script must handle coordinate space conversions automatically and cannot require the user to manually rotate the mesh after execution. Rest Pose Bake: Apply the new rotations and bake them as the armature's new Rest Pose in Edit Mode. The skeletal hierarchy must remain intact; custom bone shapes and widgets must not detach or explode from the mesh. Vertex Weight Recalculation: Correct the skin weights to reference the new bone positions to prevent deformation or tearing when animated. Clean Export: Export an FBX that successfully passes through the UE5.8 "Mesh to MetaHuman" solver with absolutely no bind pose mismatch warnings. Deliverables & Timeline Format: A single, well-commented standalone .py script. Environment: Must be fully compatible with Blender 5.1 and Unreal Engine 5.8. Timeline: 4 to 6 days maximum turnaround. Milestone Structure To ensure technical capability and pipeline alignment, this project is split into two milestones: Milestone 1: Skeletal Alignment & Integrity Verification (Blender) Description: Initial proof that the 3D math and alignment logic work prior to engine testing. Deliverable: A screen recording demonstrating the script executing the alignment in Blender 5.1. The video must clearly show the newly aligned skeleton perfectly matching the target MetaHuman bind pose. Additionally, the video must show a joint rotation and deformation test proving clean vertex weighting and bone roll integrity (no mesh tearing, floating bones, or joint collapse) during standard movement. Note: No code delivery is required for this milestone, only visual proof of a working script. Milestone 2: End-to-End Pipeline Verification & Delivery Description: Final testing and delivery of the functional code. Deliverables: The complete, documented .py script. A screen recording demonstrating the script’s output successfully completing the Mesh-to-MetaHuman conversion process in Unreal Engine 5.8. Success Criteria: The resulting character must be free of the significant "warped finger," joint distortion, and texture-binding issues typically present in standard Daz-to-Unreal exports. The script must actively correct baseline skeletal errors to ensure a stable, export-ready rig. Approval is contingent on demonstrating a successful conversion outcome that meets these professional standards.
