I have already sketched a partial schematic for a compact Raspberry Pi CM4 carrier that doubles as an audio-and-MIDI playback module, and I’m ready for a KiCad expert to turn it into a production-ready design. Board concept • Size: roughly 100 × 44 mm, 4-layer, ENIG finish, laid out to pass JLCPCB Economic Assembly DFM rules. • Core SoM: Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. • Power & I/O: USB-C for 5 V input, one USB-A host port, DIN-5 MIDI out, UART header that links to an external ESP32-S3 display board. • Audio: I2S runs to an RCA pair and a 3.5 mm stereo jack. Two BOM-selectable variants will share the same PCB: 1. Basic – PCM5102A (112 dB SNR) with minimal passives. 2. Hi-Fi – ES9038Q2M (129 dB SNR) plus a 45.1584 MHz TCXO, LT3042 LDO, and an OPA1612 output stage. Components not fitted for the Basic build will be marked DNP. What I’ll provide • The partial schematic blocks already in KiCad. • A short list of must-use parts; the remainder can be chosen by you with LCSC availability in mind. What I need from you Please complete the schematic, route the full PCB with good analog audio practices (star grounds, solid return paths, controlled-impedance I2S lines), and deliver manufacturing data ready for JLCPCB assembly. Deliverables (two revision cycles included) – Complete KiCad project: schematic and routed PCB – JLCPCB-ready Gerbers, drill and stack-up notes – BOM tagged with LCSC part numbers plus DNP column for variant control – Pick-and-Place files aligned to JLC coordinates – 3D STEP of the assembled board If you have recent experience with CM4 carriers, differential audio routing, and squeezing high-performance mixed-signal designs into small footprints, I’d love to work with you.

Will use KiCad to design the PCB with all 3D models. I have good experience in Audio so special care will be taken for routing the audio streams. I have good experience working with CMs from Veriscite and this CM4 is no different. I will also select the passives, if you havent already, to minimize the noise floor and better SNR.

Hello, I’ve reviewed your CM4 audio carrier concept and I can turn the KiCad partial schematic into a production-ready layout. I’ll design a compact 100 × 44 mm, 4-layer board with clean analog routes for I2S, an RCA pair, and a 3.5 mm jack, while keeping star-grounding and solid return paths to meet high-SNR goals. I’ll support both BOM variants: Basic with PCM5102A and Hi-Fi with ES9038Q2M, including the TCXO, LT3042, and OPA1612 in the appropriate option, with non-fitted parts marked DNP. Deliverables: complete schematic and routed PCB, Gerbers, BOM (LCSC IDs), PnP files, and a 3D STEP model. Plan a pertinent question about the project goals for the client, tone should be $gpt_tone Best regards, Marko Aleksic

Hi there, I understand you want a production-ready, KiCad-based CM4 audio carrier board in two BOM variants, with careful analog audio routing, DFM-aligned for JLCPCB, and complete manufacturing data. I’ll turn your partial schematic into a clean, manufacturable schematic and a tightly routed PCB (about 100 × 44 mm, 4-layer, ENIG) that respects star-grounding, solid return paths, and controlled-impedance I2S. I’ll select and place components to fit both PCM5102A and ES9038Q2M variants, mark non-fitted parts as DNP, and deliver a full KiCad project, Gerbers, BOM with LCSC IDs, PnP data aligned to JLCPCB, and a 3D STEP model. I’ll keep the layout compact but robust: careful USB-C power routing, a single USB-A host, DIN-5 MIDI out, and UART to the ESP32-S3 display board. I’ll provide two revision cycles so we can confirm audio performance, EMI, and ease of assembly. What is your target timeline for prototypes and final production? Questions I’d like to discuss (to ensure success): 1) Do you have a preferred connector footprint or supplier for the DIN MIDI and RCA jacks beyond default KiCad libraries? 2) Are there any strict EMI constraints or enclosure interactions we should model early on? 3) Should I target specific JLCPCB stock for resistors and capacitors to minimize DNP variations between BOMs? 4) What testing approach (bench tests, audio performance metrics) do you want with the two variants? 5) Do you have a preferred clock strategy for the Hi-Fi variant (OCXO/TCXO

─── ⚡⭐⋆☆⋆⭐⚡ ─── Hi, Client I’m a KiCad mixed signal PCB designer who’s built CM4 carrier style boards and low noise audio I2S paths that stay quiet in real hardware. My stack is KiCad 7 to 8, JLCPCB DFM for Economic Assembly, controlled impedance routing, and analog layout discipline for DAC, clock, and op amp stages. I’ve delivered similar dual BOM boards using DNP controls and a single PCB that supports a basic build and a hi fi build without layout compromises. Your goal is a 100 by 44 mm 4 layer ENIG CM4 carrier that handles USB C power, USB A host, MIDI out, ESP32 UART, and clean RCA plus 3.5 mm audio with two BOM selectable DAC options. So, I'll: Finish the schematic around your KiCad blocks, lock the CM4 IO mapping, and define the two variants with DNP tagging and LCSC part numbers. Route the 4 layer board with solid reference planes, star grounding where needed, controlled I2S, clock keepouts, and low noise power for the ES9038 path. Deliver JLC ready Gerbers, drill, stackup notes, BOM and CPL aligned to JLC, plus a STEP model and two revision cycles. Best, Siva
