I want to turn my Raspberry Pi 5 (16 GB) into a self-contained 4G gateway that also broadcasts Wi-Fi, giving me both access-point and router functionality in one box. The hardware already on my bench includes: • PCIe-to-USB 3.2/M.2 HAT+ carrying a SIM7600G-H 4G module • Waveshare UPS HAT (E) for power resilience Your task is to supply either a pre-built image or an installer/launcher script that boots straight into a reliable router environment. I need advanced administration—custom firewall rules, NAT, DHCP scopes, VLANs, the works—plus real-time bandwidth monitoring and basic historical usage charts. Think more OpenWrt-style flexibility than a “set-and-forget” wizard. Key behaviour I expect: • Automatic detection of the SIM7600G-H over USB 3.2 and immediate 4G connection (PPP or QMI, whichever gives best throughput). • Wi-Fi access point spun up on the Pi 5’s built-in radio (or an external USB adapter if you prefer) with editable SSID, channel, and security settings. • A clean web interface and SSH access so I can tweak everything from iptables/nftables to QoS. • Graceful handling of the Waveshare UPS—safe shutdown on critically low battery would be a welcome bonus. Deliverables 1. Bootable SD-card image or fully documented install script tested on Raspberry Pi 5 with the hardware above. 2. Short README covering build steps, default credentials, and how to extend or rebuild the image. 3. Confirmation that bandwidth monitoring is active and visible in the UI/CLI. I’ll validate by flashing the image, inserting a SIM, joining the Wi-Fi, and checking internet reachability plus live traffic stats. Let me know which base distro or toolchain (OpenWrt, Raspberry Pi OS + NetworkManager/hostapd, etc.) you plan to use and any extra packages I should fetch beforehand.
